C-D Lee
F C Bosh
F D Gallinari
G Lebron James
G Chris Duhon
F 6th man Al Harrington
F/G Wilson Chandler
G Toney Douglas

Trade Eddy Curry and two future 1 in 2012+2014--someone will do that.

Bundle Nate Hill and Jefferies for expirings and future pick

That gives us roughly 48mm in cap space+ we can get this done.

dont have the money for Lee/Bosh and that bench. How are you trading both Curry and JJ? I dont think its realistic.

I think best option is to keep these guys playing great ball. If you can do that maybe you can trade JJ+Chandler for Mike Miller (ish). Come offseason you package Curry (expiring) plus Hill for OK4 AFTER you sign Lebron, and resign Lee.

That leaves you with:
PG Douglas
SG Lebron
SF Gallo
PF Lee
C OK4
bench depends on how much money cap leaves you with, but its gonna be mostly bought late first and 2nd rounders, vets at the minimum and you HOPE you can bring Harrington back.

PG Douglas $1mm
SG Lebron $17mm
SF Gallo $3.3mm
PF Lee $9mm
C OK4 $11.5mm
that = $41mm. Leaving you with about $15mm - $17mm to fill out the roster
Sounds like a lot but your gonna need that scratch. Harrington for $6mm, then cap holds will take up close to the rest. Dont see how Bosh could fit in there.

Thoughts?

I trade JJ + Chander and cash to Wash for Mike Miller
I trade Currys (expiring contract) , cash and Jordan Hill for Ok4 who has $50mm plus remaining on his deal.

Thats the hope

Doesn't matter if he nets us Lebron and another superstar, because those picks will suck anyway once we're #1 in the world.

& how do we afford all those other players on BRIGGS' roster with the cap space we'd have left over?

C-D Lee ~$9m
F C Bosh ~$17m
F D Gallinari ~$3m
G Lebron James ~$17m
G Chris Duhon ~$3m
F 6th man Al Harrington ~$7m
F/G Wilson Chandler ~$2m
G Toney Douglas ~$1m

my calculator says that adds up to $59 million... the salary cap for next season is projected at somewhere between $50-54 million according to a memo that was sent out in July

we still would need to shave another ~$6-9 million off that roster's salary to financially make it happen to begin with after you sign at least 2 other guys at minimum deals, which pretty much means u can't realistically keep both Lee & Harrington & still expect to be able to afford 2 max FA's even if you can somehow dump both Curry & Fishlips' contracts.

Yes, is why I say "That's a champion squad. If only we could afford it."

If it comes to Lee or Al, I lose Al. Lee brings a rarer set of skills than Al, who just scores.

it would leave u with more like $11-14 million to fill at least 7 more roster spots, which means no chance at any other max FA's... i don't think Lebron comes here at all unless we can sign another premier guy to play next to him, even if u added Al Harrington to that roster & a buncha low tier contracts, i don't think it's gonna be enough to get Lebron to NY.

the big key is to give Lebron that Robin to play to his Batman... Bosh? Dirk? someone along those lines... then after you get those 2 top guys, u can fill in w/MLE contracts in 2011 & beyond to add the necessary depth to take the final step.

The Knicks can make it work through backloading contracts. Perhaps all 4 players may take just a tad less as well to get it done. Also from what I have read--revenues are not far off from last year and the cap is set this year at nearly 58mm--lets say it reduces another 5% leaving it @ roughly 55/56 if we got rid of Jordan Hill Jefferies and Curry we would have roughly 48/49mm to spend.

You think so? Do you have a source? Not that I don't believe you, but I want to see what he said.

if u can get Al & Lee to accept backloaded deals & reduce the 2010 cap hit by ~$3-4 million, that brings you to ~$55-56 million in contracts so we're right on the borderline in your scenario... not sure Duhon would sign at $3m, i was being pretty conservative w/that estimate... my guess is he'll go for a MLE type contract someplace else, but who knows... regardless Duhon isn't gonna be a dealbreaker for Lebron or Bosh to come to NY either way so u could just as easily strip him outta the equation & free up another $3m to give u some leeway... i'd probably rather sign someone like Marcus Camby to bring some shotblocking to that roster instead & just let TD handle the PG position... he won't need to orchestrate all that much anyway w/Lebron here.

C D Lee ~$7.5m (backloaded)
F C Bosh ~$17m
F D Gallinari ~$3m
G Lebron James ~$17m
G Toney Douglas ~$1m
F 6th man Al Harrington ~$5.5m (backloaded)
F/G Wilson Chandler ~$2m
C M Camby ~$3m
Total = ~$56m + 4 more minimum contracts

I'd sign on for that I guess.

I'm not sold on bosh being paid the same salary as lebron. He just doesn't strike me as max talent considering his current team.

I'd prefer two non max and a max and let everyone walk.

Or something along the lines as:
C Boozer ~$10m
F D Gallinari ~$3m
F Lebron James ~$17m
G L Hughes ~$6-7m
G Toney Douglas ~$1m
F 6th man Al Harrington ~$5.5m (backloaded)
F/G Wilson Chandler ~$2m

Total = ~$45m

if we need to keep jeffries and curry not sure it works.

Perfect world they turn into Joe Johnson somehow.

Hopefully in 2011 cpaul rounds out the championship roster.

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

LOL at Duhon looking down on 3mil per year.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Fish, I like this lineup the best out of all that were mentioned. I also wouldn't mind resigning Harrington to a decent deal ($6-$7 mil). Hill and Harrington off the bench, all you really need to do is sign an Eddie House-type of player to a 2-3 mil contract who can play spot minutes at the 1 and the 2 and you have a great thing going, IMO.
