They still talk at Golden State about the night Stephen Jackson called out Kevin Garnett.

Garnett, the Boston Celtics star, is a bully. Andris Biedrins, a callow Eastern European center, fit the role of victim. A petulant sort, Garnett wouldn't shut up.

Jackson wasn't in uniform that night. He was too injured to play, a rarity. But he wasn't too injured to confront Garnett. Jackson took a step or two onto the court and told Garnett he could either stop talking or start fighting.

No one seemed surprised Jackson would intervene. The shocker was Garnett's acquiescence; he shut his yap.

"I knew Biedrins wasn't the type of guy to mouth off to Kevin Garnett," Jackson said. "And I wasn't going to let him punk a young teammate."

Many years ago, I watched a game when Kareem was still on the Bucks and Chamberlain on the Lakers. Kareem started talking trash to Happy Hairston until Chamberlain walked over. Suddenly Kareem got quiet and walked away. Bullies are cowards at heart.

I liked Noah standing up to LBJ this week. Telling him to cut the dancing out.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Garnett is pure hoe cakes...

I echo JoeC's statement one-hunnid percent. If he didnt make so much bread, I'd grab duke in a heartbeat. Jax puts on war paint every night he gets on the court.

That's the whole problem with a bunch of players, its their contracts that kill their chances with us. Jax IS the modern Spree.

I was never a huge Spree fan, mainly because I viewed him as the type of guy who wanted all the free reign of being the best player/captain/leader of a team but never wanted any of the responsibility.

Now I know you can say the same thing about Jax with recent comments/activity but I think it is more of an organizational thing. Do far the two best players in the team have found it to hard to be leaders there. That to me is organizational not a personality thing.

hey i really felt him that game. his head was so deeply into it that he looked like was having a virtual reality experience of playing the game on the sideline. his intensity has always been a plus in my book. the major criticism i've always had of him is he's afraid to shoot in the 4th quarter. the guy always posed like a first-line nba star, but in crunchtime he wanted to be the 2nd, 3rd or 4thk option.

There's intensity that arises out of genuine care, genuine involvement, real passion. And then there is Garnett, who often times comes off as intense, I think, just for the sake of being 'intense'. Not saying he's not passionate or that he doesn't care, but between genuine intensity and feigned intensity, he teeters towards the latter.

he's such a pus. Remember when he got punked by peeler. I seem to remember he got punked by a Euro player like last season.

Dude only picks on cats who are quiet or soft. Same with Pierce. I remember when he tried to choke JCrawford for what was just a good hard foul. Never would have pulled that with Q who while a bum never hesitated to get in their collective faces.

Bully's know who they can taunt and who they can't.

I don't know about using the words Euro and soft. But you're right to mention 'quiet. Insofar as European players have a distinct character, it's a safer bet to say that it's more towards quiet than soft.

But I agree, Garnett is a pus because it's likely, in his mind, he perceives Euro players as 'soft'. But this is not reality.

no i don’t buy it with garnett. i've seen that guy countless times put his skinny body right up there for maximum collision with 300 pounders. he definitely has a bratty annoying quality when he goes too far, same as carmelo or kobe, but garnett is a genuine impassioned warrior in my book.

No doubt. I just mean that, sometimes, and it's been more frequent since he won his championship, he leans towards the theatrical side of intensity.

Eh, that kinda stuff is just whatever to me. It's great to have intensity and passion but with Garnett he just looks like a douchebag. I have intensity and crap when I play in my league and I'll yell a little bit to get my team riled up but to me Garnett goes over the line with his routine and act.

Its one thing to be intense and in the game, but its another thing all-together when he becomes antagonistic. I really hate that. It was especially bad after he finally won a championship. Case in point..

I think you misunderstood me or misread my post. I didn't equate Euro with soft. I said he got punked by a Euro player (not meaning someone currently in Europe but a form Eruo player now in the NBA (ala Gallo)

but we do agree which is all that matters right

Don't confuse his willingness to take a charge from Shaq as being tough. I'm talking about when he trash talks and actually picks on guys. Became a total ass once he became a Celtic.

Never take anything away from his competitive spirt...he's an all time great, but his resume overflows with examples of picking fights with players who are ill equipped to stand up to him, while falling back when it comes to the real hard rocks of the NBA. That's crazy false behavior.

That Calderon vid is exhibit A.
