When I read other team blogs I get the feeling that the star players don't want to come to New York and they are tell other players that going to New York is a career breaker especially if you are a veteran. Is this true. Will we get a super star in 2010?

put it this way-- you're giving artest and jalen rose credibility, intellectual credibility., because those two are amongst the stupidest players to ever grace the hardwood.

Blobman if you are talking about the last week you need to include Eddie Johnson, one of the Lakers beat writers, Colin Cowherd, and several of the bloggers on hoopsworld. Most of these guys are pointing the finger at D'Antoni and his lack of flexibility and not coaching defense. I know that I have heard other national guys talk about this because I have a very long commute but I can't remember them by name.

Baby Steps.

The idea is changing the team's culture into that of a winning franchise. It took years to get this low; be prepared for it to take years to come out of it.

So we don't get Lebron or Wade. We get one or two stars (probably one). We win 43 games. In 2011 maybe we seduce Melo or another few good pieces. We win 50 games and maybe second round of the playoffs. From there, it's luck and management.

Getting a player like LBJ is a rare gift. To expect it or feel entitled to it would be foolish and immature.

Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

that is precisely what i said before but was criticized. unless we are getting lebron AND wade/bosh, we won't be instant contenders next year but we will get one star to at least compete. then we will have cap room again in 2011 to sign someone else. this is a process where 2012 is the year we will officially be contenders, not instantly next year. out of everyone, we have a bigger chance getting melo than anyone else i believe and he can fit into d'antoni's system better than lebron and wade imo. so if we get someone like, say, stoudamire ( though i heard that he and d'antoni had a falling out before they parted ways), bosh who i think we have a good chance getting tho some say he will go to miami or joe johnson who is the last resort but he is far and away better than anyone on our team, it will be one piece to a puzzle by bringing in melo which i believe he would love to come back to the east coast.

I think a lot of NBA players, and potential players, strive for a suburban car-oriented lifestyle. When was the last time you heard about a Knick player having an apartment in the city?

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/4233/the-difference-between-the-rangers-and-the-knicks-parking-etiquette

Most of the Rangers live in Manhattan; the Knicks largely stay in Westchester County. Many Rangers ride the subway to the Garden. When they drive to practice here, they enter the same secure players parking lot as the Knicks do, parking their Land Rovers and BMWs alongside the Knicks’ flashier cars, a collection that includes a Bentley.

i wish there was a feature on this site where i can put any 'lebron coming to ny or not thread' on ignore

It's a load of crap.

If you can put together a good team and promise a FA you can do so then they will come.

If you're a horrible team that has no intention of surrounding a prospective FA with any more than that horrible team they will not come.

We are on the verge (bless you jared jeffries for playing so well!) of being able to tell LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire... "Hey, come to New York, and tell us who you want us to go out and get for you!"

You instantly go from a core of youth with some average veterans to a core of youth with two superstar max free agents. You're instantly a 55 win team and playoff contender.

You mean to tell me nobody understands this? You mean to tell me that Wade and Bron know that without them their team is as bad as the current Knicks? You mean to tell me that they don't know that if they came to this "bad team" they'd make it a good team? You mean to tell me that they don't know that if they can be paired with a second max FA (something they have implored their present teams to do with no results) and come to New York a bad team with good youth, and not build a superpower?

It's not about LeBron or bust though. That's media and fan speculation.

It was about cleaning up an absolute mess and not repeating the same crippling financial decisions.

If LeBron doesn't come it doesn't matter because we will finally be a team shed of disastrous long term deals, full of young talent, and all the money in the world to improve it with.

So I never bought this attitude that the Knicks are fools for wasting two years for a slim chance at LeBron. It's simply not true in any way.

over the past 15 years, has a player, coach or executive left the knicks with a better rep than when they came in?

Houston, Spree? Camby? Prob just because of the Finals run.

Unfortunately the last 10 years have been marred with losing, so no player can leave with a better rep on default.
