You want a center for X-mas I take it. Not likely...this one I expect to get his degree and be a lottery pick in 2011.

I figured you were going to say that Randall kid for Cal when I saw that you wanted a 5-8 PG Briggs.
Alan Hahn:
Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

What we need is 4-5 guards and wings who have top level speed with the ability to penetrate at will with high IQ toughness and high skill level. If you want to play up and down you need guys who can do it. Were not going to have a top 15 pick in any scenario--so that subtracts a lot of good players. While there WILL be a nice assortment of bigger players --my belief is that many of them go high. I'm looking to #s17-24 prospects. RIP Crushalot😞

I also think we should be looking hard to trade Mobley's contract to a team with extra first rounders for an expiring back. That could save someone like $6-$8mm this year. Thats not chump change. We need more guys like Toney Douglas. Skilled heady mature guys. Guys that go all out on both ends of the court. Memphis has extra first rounders "winning is more fun... then fun is fun" -Thibs

Yeah, Fish, that's a huge point that I hope Donnie gets. Even if we sign two Max guys, we will have to fill out the roster with minimum salary guys unless we can acquire more draft picks. Douglas is a good reserve guard in my eyes. Let's say we get Johnson and Bosh. One of Gallo/Hill/Chandler would be a sub.
We should be able to take the best player available regardless of position. Just hope that the CBA issues force more players than normal into the draft and make that #32 valuable. Alan Hahn:

Randle's just as quick as this kid Thomas only slightly taller at 5'10" (maybe more in shoes) and a much better outside shooter. Randle has some good passing ability as well - think he led the Pac-10 in assists at 5/game. Thomas is pretty good though - was watching him play last night on ESPN before I went to bed. Washington all over Portland St. in a landslide. Randle's definitely a guy to keep an eye on - he's probably done growing but I'd like to see him fill out just a little more. He's rail thin... |

You will like his name too:) I don't see Nate when I watch him play--he'll be on TV several times this year. He helped impact Wash W-L last year--there is like 3 PGs who play for them--and he has the best scoring ability so the assist numbers are not where they should be--but you can clearly see they could be. I think over focusing on size was the reason why Ty Lawson and Jennings are not knicks. They wanted a big PG. You cant have 5 guys who are around 6 feet but if your guards went 5-9 6-2 6-3 6-5 then you can mix and match. The main theme is speed. The faster you can move the ball and the more space you can create is what will make this style of play work. If you have 4 guys who can break you off the dribble and also shoot it with effeiency--then that is very hard to guard. It gives a guy like Gallo more space to move as well. We need a lot but I can see how I would put this house together now. Really the two best guys in the draft are guys who have superior skills at breaking you off the dribble and their teams have been impacted in the W-L RIP Crushalot😞

Which team was running out a midget brigade last season? The Lakers or the Magic? Who were the star point guards in the playoffs last season? Rondo. Rose. Billups. Why make it difficult for yourself. If you're playing with Tony Parker, then you've got to have Horry/Duncan/Finley and have a bench full of defensive specialists to make up for it. In today's NBA, it seems to me that if you want to have a winning team and your PG is not as big as shooting guards used to be, then his name had better be Chris Paul. Alan Hahn:

They were big upfront and small in the backcourt but their guards were just so skilled smart and tough--IT played well above the rim in his early days--that height was not an issue. RIP Crushalot😞
