He is no PG and I have no clue whether or not he would be able to continue the pace he set the last game and 1/2 but give him credit for playing VERY VERY hard both ways--giving 110% and also executing plays. His jumpshot looks like it has taken a metamorphosis of God-like proportions in the last week.

it may take a year or 2 or 3 for Douglas to fully realize PG skills to run a team, but damn I like him. Throw him out there and give him minutes. No less than 3 opposing guards wanted nothing to do with him and complained to refs that he was hounding them too much. Plus, when you have the other 23 on your team, you don't need a traditional PG.

he makes some mistakes but he gives effort.

Effort wins every time... I'll live and die with Douglas playing hard over Duhon anyday

Not only does Duhon not play hard, but he makes worse mistakes than Douglas.

So u can say Douglas can't run a team.. but he damn sure runs it better than Duhon

i was at the game tonight. love douglas. he's the only one who remotely looked for gallinari on offense, he's the only one with a feel for the offense, he seemed to be the only one trying at points. the kid has a motor. would love to see him and nate on the floor.

the guard rotation should be douglas, larry and nate. send duhon to siberia.

I noticed that too. It was like he was looking for someone to compete with him and determined that Gallo was the only who seemed interested in fighting for the win.

yeah, douglas looked like the only one out there who gave a crap, and he looked like he was wondering why his team just flaked out and disappeared after the half.

He plays at that pace constantly. And if you never get the rock back well gotta be your only option to pass. 'Sharrington?'

He's looking for his shot too much, a la Harrington. Has to give out more then one assist. Good energy, has to "see" more.

Granted...but then when you got a 3 on 1 fast break and you hit the guy in the hands and he looses it out of bounds?

Guys, he is not really playing the pg position. MDA put him out there to be a SG, and frankly, during the third quarter, he was the only one making shots, so he needed to shoot more. This kid is not a finished product, and he certainly does need to get a better grasp of the offense, but he has shown the potential to be a solid guard. Whether he can be a fulltime starter will depend on whether he can run the offense effectively, and that will probably take a few more weeks before he develops that level of understanding.

Agreed he played the 2 spot most of the game. Hughes and Duhon ran the point for the most part

Last year Duhon joined the team and played spirited basketball. This year he's playing like a guy thats had fun in the NBA for a few years, made $25mm or so playing probasketball and is hording up his paychecks to buy a beach house somewhere and get fat.

He doesnt break down defenses and does very little to set up the offense. He brings up the ball and they pass it around the perimeter until someone jacks up a 3. Douglas or Nate can do that just fine.

There is none, zero, zilch doubt that Douglas is a rotation player in this league and a good one.

Anyone killing DW for taking him over Blair or anyone can chill out. Douglas can play. He can score (he could ALWAYS score) and he is a bigtime defender. He's a great combo of quickness and power and has enough length to challenge shots. He reminds me a lot of the Chris Childs we THOUGHT we were getting when we signed him from the Nets.

I gotta wonder if what's killed Duhon's game is playing against Douglas in practice..he has to have seen the writing on the wall.

and he's offered no fight when getting benched. I mean they asked him the other day after he got pulled what he thought and he said "great.. coach should go with the hot hand."

I really think he's happy to take his $5.5mm and party

Olbrannon - excellent point. Douglas is quite possibly broken down Duhon to the point he has lost whatever confidence he had left from his playing days at Duke.

Toney Douglas is the present AND the future.

My kingdom for a 6'6 reasonable facsimile of Latrell Sprewell.

Yup.

Hughes has stepped up his game, and looks motivated, and is even showing some PG traits.

He lost at least two assists because of players who could not finish at the basket, and made at least one pass to someone with a wide open 3 who missed that shot.

4-6 APG is what I am looking for out of him at this point.
