Report: Iverson leaves teamComment Email Print Share ESPN.com news services

Allen Iverson was granted permission to leave the Memphis Grizzlies to deal with a personal matter, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported on Saturday.

Iverson

Iverson had a meeting with Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley Friday night after the team lost 114-98 to the Los Angeles Lakers, the newspaper reported.

Iverson met with Heisley again Saturday morning and then left for Atlanta, the Commercial Appeal reported. Iverson lives in Atlanta during the offseason.

Iverson has played in three games for the Grizzlies since returning from a hamstring injury. He has come off the bench in all three games and made it known he is unhappy about it.

Iverson has averaged 12.3 points, 3.7 assists, 2.3 turnovers and 57-percent shooting in 22 minutes for the Grizzlies.

I would be all for it. Anything is better than Duhon. Iverson actually might make this team go.

lmao at anyone even considering the thought of ai in new york. he just left his team. he left his team last year. this is marbury 2.0 at this point, on his way to maybe even leaving steph in the dust

mike conley is a back up right now at his best. why they continue to waste time trying to justify that pick is baffling. hollins should've started AI.

Dude you gotta make something like this more definative in the Thread title....

Iverson was just sent home...the Knicks have completely imploded 6 games into the season. They need a DOG that will bring it every night. Iverson will end scoring droughts....PERIOD!!! Did I mention that there is a whole in the Back court named Chris Duhon yet???

Match made in heaven....I don't think the trade can be made till December....Donnie Walsh needs to get it down....If you gotta trade Wilson Chandler who gives a ****...next year Wilson's Role will become Lebrons...wake up people.

KNICKS MUST GET IVERSON!!!!

you sound like a media slut....

TMS just said it...but I will repeat....Iverson never had a problem playing 48 mins a game and bringing 100% on the basketball court. Dude is old but young to Iverson is 30pts per game...old Iverson is 22-24pts per every single night.

DONNIE GO GET IVERSON!!!!

I been trying to tell yall that when Lowry was getting benched for no reason.

Iverson must be a Knick....no other team fits him more.

I used to be against signing Iverson, but now, I would go for it if we can not give up much. Trading Jeffries' contract would be great. But Jeffries hasn't been the problem. Duhon has been the problem. Trading him for Iverson + would also work.

for 3mm for one year--he shouldve been a knick. We accepted that chris duhon--a vastly inferior player would start. AI has carried a team to the finals--I don't remember hearing AI corrupting young players. For the money spent--AI would have been worth it.

Wow Iverson the ANSWER to the Knicks Problem........

If Memphis is willing to take some of our trash sure I'm all for it!!

I think we are over reacting with Chandler btw he was off all summer and has no real role yet!! Not to mention you see he is not as explosive as he was b4 surgery!! Having had surgery I understand the process!!

But DUHAN!!!! Wow no more excuses for this dude!! He sucks!! And he flat gave up again tonight!! We go down with his negative energy I believe!! And Al is a flat out chucker and often starts the decline in ball movement on our team!!

FISHLIPS needs to be benched!! I understand we are trying to showcase this guy but enough is enough!! Think his value could only rise if he rides the pine!! He is horrid on offense!!

All in AI for any one of these guys i do it in a heart beat!!

One year of the Answer gotta be better then anything we got going!!

Could you imagine how open Gallo will be??

Bird Lite and the Answer I like it!!

KNICKS on the way UP!!!

how about Wilson Chandler, Chris Duhon & Fishlips for AI, Steven Hunter & Marco Jaric?

pretty much a wash in terms of salaries exchanged but AI's not happy in MEM & we need an upgrade at the PG position in the worst way right now... Hunter's an upgrade over Fishlips & Jaric has the size & versatility to play either backcourt position as a backup... Chandler has no role here w/Gallo growing into his own, he will likely have a better shot to fully blossom in MEM playing alongside Mayo, Gay & Thabeet.

of course i'd rather try & get Rubio using Chandler as a trade asset but if that can't happen i'd consider bringing AI in here for the rest of the year & let him put up some numbers while he plays for his next contract... at least it will give Knick fans a marquee player to watch for a year until the summer when we can target an impact free agent to build this team around.

You gotta be kidding me...Wilson Chandler has done nothing and he's playing Lebron's position right now. Rubio is Minnesota's problem right now. I suppose you wanna wait 2 years to get Rubio and then wait 2 years for him to develop.

i would have to have Fishlips for Jaric in there to give us some depth in the backcourt... losing Fishlips will free up minutes for Hill to get playing time too... it's a win-win for both teams IMO.

I agree we need to trade chandler but not now while his value is at an all time low.......... His game will come around I believe!!

As for Rubio if we get his rights we wont have to wait 2 years for him to come!!

Cablevision will give his team a channel and they will release us his rights!! We are not Minnesota Rubio wants a big city if he is gonna leave Barcelona!!

And he is NBA ready!! Like Gallo was!! And is!! ..... He has been playing pro ball since 14!!

KNICKS on the way UP!!!

Fishlips might actually have a decent role with Memphis. They have more than enough scoring options, so they could use a player that contributes nothing on the offensive end.
