Lot of team "politics" involved in turning over the team to a 21 yr. old virtual rookie.
I am a big, maybe the biggest, Gallinari supporter (wanted him at 6, would have taken him over Love at 5), and suffered a lot of fan grief over his situation last year, but it is hard for MDA to just declare him the go to guy after having played fewer than 35 games in the NBA.
Work on some specific plays for him. Set some screens so he can get some room to shoot or pass off on the pick and roll. Isolate him down low against some of the smaller guys who guard him. If he performs, guys will recognize this and realize that they will benefit from getting him the ball in certain situations. You don't want to put too much pressure on him. He should be able to play point forward every now and then, but he is not ready for Lebron-like control over the team.
By the way, did anyone notice the little moment between Gallo an Hill. Hill set a pick for Gallo, but did not roll to the basket(looked like he dropping back to set up for a jumper. Gallo's pass went off the leg of a Cav and went out of bounds. As Gallinari was walking around, he faced Hill and made a subtle hand movement with his left hand, letting Hill know that he expects him to go to the basket on those plays. Just thought it was an interesting moment in the game. Wonder if Hill will learn?
