Papabear Says

I became a knicks fan back in the 50s watching that black and white tv with my father. He was a die hard Knicks and Brooklyn dodgers fan. It broke his heart when the Dodgers moved to Los Angelas. I've been a Knicks fan for over 50 some odd years. They can make the play offs if Walsh don't break up the team for salary cap space. If Gilliani is what we think he is and we play good defense we will make the playoffs.

I became a Knick in 85 when the Knicks drafted Ewing. I would admit, I played the game at a young age but didnt really follow out until all the hoopla about the Knicks drafting this great player from Georgetown. 89 season, when the Knicks came back to best the Celtics, in the playoffs, is when I fell in love with the team.

Like every year, I hope the Knicks make the playoffs and do well. I dont like throwing games away for better drafting position and I certainly dont like giving up a whole season in hopes of landing certain star players...but it is what it is. I'll continue to root for them regardless

I became a fan when they drafted Mark Jackson in 87. But I fell in love during the 91 playoff series vs the bulls. I will never forget Xavier McDaniel picking up a limping Ewing off the floor. I don't see the playoffs in our future. I'm a believer in star power, and we just don't have enough.

Tony Soprano - "once you are in the family, there's no gettin out"

coolbeans - you never were a Knicks fan. you are simply a migrant worker on his way to the next farm.

I became a Knicks fan the moment my Dad tipped a usher in the uper deck at the old Garden to move down a few rows to watch Howard Komives, Johnny Green and the Knicks play The San Francisco Warriors with Wilt Chamberlain and Guy Rodgers.

The roar of the crowd during a second half comeback was a beautiful thing to experience.

...Almost as loud as the ovation during the last game at the old place the night they closed the joint against Philadelphia (Billy Cunningham was fun to watch in person) with a rookie named Walt Frazier in the lineup.

I shoulda brought my screw driver to steal an EXIT sign or something.

sheesh

25 years here. I became a fan in the 1983-1984 Season. Hubie Brown coached the team to 47 wins, BK was a top5 scorer, the Knicks beat the Pistons in five, and took the eventual champs, the Celtics, to 7 games.

I look forward to making the playoffs in 2011.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I became a Knick fan in the golden era of the Knicks. Walt,Willis, et al. Clyde was tooling around town in his Rolls Royce and we pulled up next to him at a stop light in Harlem. He had me with the head nod.

I was a little kid when I first saw Bernard live at msg but he was amazing. It's like he never missed and nobody could stop him. I fell in love with basketball because of Bernard. I tried to play like him with no success when I first started to play.

My pops used to walk me down to the court before games to watch the guys shoot around. Back in the day I guess nobody cared. I remember giving players high fives after throwing back a loose ball but couldnt tell you who they were to save my life.

When "Chahlie" Ward joined I became a Knick fan. A fair point guard he was the best QB in New York for most of the late 90's.

Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans "The prototypical 0-guard: Someone who handles the ball all the time, looks for his own shot, gets to the rim at will and operates best if his teammates spread the floor to watch him."

My first "basketball" team was the Georgetown Hoyas...when Ewing came to New York, I became a fan of the Knicks...and it has lasted since.
Best times....early 90s...went to school in NY and lived with a couple of guys from Chicago...there was a large group of us that would get together for every Knick/Bulls game...we didn't always win those games; but, damn, it was a lot of fun.

My effing dad cursed me with the birthright of being a Knicks fan.

My first vivid sports memory was sitting in the last row of the blue seats with my dad watching the Knicks dismantle the Celtics at game 4. Everyone was chanting "Boston sucks" and I was chanting "let's go Knicks" because at that point I felt bad cussin. The guys in front of me thought it was hysterical. Later they tried to feed me booze. Been a junky ever since--Knicks junky I suppose.
