He's got a size advantage on most SF's and good ball skills--why do they force him 30 feet from the basket? I haven't seen any extraordinary 3 pt skills from him. But he is long--why not use him from the mid range into the post and use the 3 point shot as something where if he is trailing a play or finds an open spot--why force so may 3's when you have different skills? He can be used BETTER as a PF operating from mid rnage through the post and he should be allowed 3-4 post ups at a minimum.

Lets just bring back JVG already so we can dump it down all day and average 80pts per walking it up every possesion. It probably would work better and satisfy everyone that were brainwashed by the Ewing years.

Briggs, he shot extremely well from behind the arc as a rookie with a bad back - something like 44%. His foul shooting was insanely good. I could see him posting up certain 3's at some point. But I'd wait another season before adding that to his game. He's a second year player who missed a lot of his rookie season and needs to get comfortable out there.

I long for those smash mouth days too...but the Knicks don't have that type of team. Though they probably should look to get to the rim more having the wing guys go off screens....but look who the point guard is....Chris Duhon can only pass to David Lee and couldn't beat my fat ass in a foot race.

What Gallo needs is someone to help him with his footwork. His foot work during the game looked more rehearsed than natural, even when he was trying to cross over a Net defender. The good news is I finally see (give this man an applause) the real potential in this guy. If he can get his low post moves down, work on his footwork and become comfortable enough to pass well out of the post, he will be a problem for a lot of people. If they really want his confidence to go up, they need to get Gallo some higher percentage shots. Just because he shoots the 3 ball well doesn't mean shooting 3's is the best way out of a shooting slum.

In addition, running the pick and roll out of the post was a staple of Utah and Magic's Los Angeles lakers and it would be nice if the pick and roll could be executed by a couple of players and not just Duhon.

I agree with Briggs as well. He's shown ability to score in the post as well as on the perimeter. I do think that as he matures and progresses in his career you will find him down low more and more. It will take patience on our end though. In the beginning it's probably not going to happen that often.

He should be interchangeable just like Chandler and Harrington.

Chandler should be a threat to attack the basket, post up small players, as well as a threat to hit the 3. Harrington should be a threat to attack the basket, post up, or hit the 3. Gallo should be a threat to attack the basket, post up, or hit the 3.

They should all create space for each other by there 3 point shooting ability so that each of these guys can do other things with the ball like attack the basket or post up. They should also us there ability to attack the basket or post up to open up the 3 point shot.

So that no matter what they do offensively like attack the basket, post up or shoot the 3 they should be able to get high percentage shots. They shouldn't be shooting 3s unless its an open kick out. And whoever has the biggest mismatch out of the 3 should be the one to create the high percentage shots for the others.

Thank you for saying something like this.

For as much as Mike D's system turns its back on post play and while I sometimes find myself saying get the ball down low -- the Knick offense in the Jeff VanGundy / Pat Riley era was absolutely dreadful. It was dreadful basketball - it was dreadful offense and it was horribly UN-entertaining to watch.

Gallo looks like a stick figure in the low post -- he can barely muster the strength to run CDR or Cortney Lee down into the paint without looking like he was in a street fight. He needs to add strength and that's only happening with time and maturity.

I have to say I disagree about watching the Riley/JVG teams. I never missed a minute and taped every game so I could watch them again. Maybe it was because those teams worked so hard or because they were competitive but I loved them. I wore Ewings everyday and usually sported something else. I now watch a handful of games start to finish and by February sometimes only watch half of the fourth quarter. I always start the year off in hopes of finding that same passion but the losing and the style just burn me out.
