The Knicks set their regular season roster four days before it was due to the NBA. It looks as if undrafted rookie Marcus Landry, who literally paid his own way to the MSG Training Center in September to get into workouts with the players and earn an invite to training camp, has made the team.

Guard Joe Crawford and center Chris Hunter, two 10-day contract players from the end of last season, were waived this morning.

What's curious about the decision to waive both Crawford and Hunter is that it leaves the Knicks with 13 healthy players on the roster. Cuttino Mobley, who retired last year because of a heart condition, is technically still on the roster, but it leaves an opening. But before we speculate about any late additions, Mike D'Antoni, who will play a maximum 9-man rotation most nights, has said he doesn't want to carry a full 15-man roster this season.

We did a story on Marcus in the Wednesday editions of Newsday and he discussed what it would mean to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Carl, who is a forward with the Houston Rockets.

The Knicks, who finished 5-2 in the preseason, were off from practice today and will return to the court tomorrow to begin preparing for next Wednesday's season opener in Miami.

Stoked to have the kid on the team. Odd that we have a roster spot open though... (Maybe for Ewing Jr. when he comes back... Well, here's hoping)

landry is better than hill. but let's forget this pejr nonsense.

welcome landry, if you're reading this. hopefully we don't have any injuries but if we do i think you will do a great job filling in

is this a real cover? becuase if it is then this guy can become the next john starks.

Trade looks promising - a two for one for Hughes. I would have liked to have seen Joe Crawford stay, but it looks like other things are in the cards.

Dude has 3 kids and a wife...I guess this explains his maturity. That's whats up.

that is awesome... glad he makes the roster, he earned it. Whats the NBA min? $450k about? Stay healthy, practice and play hard, and hit the shot when you can

three words: gallo, chandler, al, darko, lee, and nate. the rest are scrubs. so that's a big % of scrubs.
