More defense, more ball movement and the team looked much better. Not going to go out on a limb and say we are going to win 50 games here but seeing us attack on defense is very promising.

so far I agree. I think Douglas showed he will have a positive impact in the rotation this year, especially on defense. That really puts (positive) pressure on Duhon and Nate to deliver there also

It's funny so far I think the PG position has been what has held us back. Douglas has played well and appears to be getting more comfortable but right now he's a rookie. Duhon looked great scoring points for a stretch last night, but his role as offensive leader has been horrendous. Each time we've had a run of poor shot selection and turnovers he is right in the middle of it all. I walked away from last night thinking that this team could actually be a solid team if you added a true PG leader to it.

Defense looks 100% better than last year. That line-up we talked about a few days ago(Chandler, Douglas, Nate, Gallo, JJ/Darko) is a GOOD defensive line-up that also puts points on the board. They have had an impact on almost every preseason game so far.

Of course it's preseason. Of course we played crappy teams and one team 3 times without it's star. But to me, it was encouraging to see the team competing despite the fact that they are in a prolonged shooting slump. For the past 3-4 years everytime our shooting was poor our team fell apart. Now it seems that we can survive stretches without good shooting, and when we shoot well we can play with most.

Tough for me to make a prediction this year. A ton depends on the development of Gallo and Wilson, but I cannot see this team playing worse than last year. To me, they are showing signs of being a better team

On a side note: Could you imagine this board if we took an ofer like the Nets did. This placed would be burned to the ground.

Last night. Up 12(maybe more) after 2 or 3 straight trips of poor shot selection what does Duhon do? He pulls up for a 3 pointer from about 30 feet from the basket. That's exactly what Bip would do in the Y league. Not sure you should do that in the NBA.

saw that, and he had at least another 10 feet before he even would see a defender. Dumbest move ever.

I don't hate Duhon, but it's stuff like this that makes u realize why the hunt for our permanent starting PG goes on! MDA must be biting thru his lip holding back what he really feels. After having Nash run his offense to perfection it must be tough to watch someone not get everything out of it that's there. True PG's are rare for a reason. Hey you can win a Super Bowl with a Trent Dilfer but that don't make him a great QB! For his team tho it would make a huge improvement in how far this team gets this year if we get better PG play. If you've got Lebron or KG, Allen & Pierce it almost doesn't matter if you don't have a pure point or not, but here it would raise our level a ton if you add a guy that makes great decisions, can drive, dish and shoot effectively. It just opens up so many more options.

Agreed. I actually like Duhon. The reason I like him is that I accept who he is. He's a back up PG playing starters minutes and this is what you will get in this situation. We have a team of guys that don't know what a good shot is(witness 3 three pointers up 5 with under three minutes to go against Boston with 9 or more seconds on the shot clock). It's the PG's duty to settle down the offense and get us back into our offense when guys are jacking up quick threes out of the flow of the offense. Our current PG not only does not do that, but he is one of the worst culprits. That's one of the reasons Nate can't play the point either. It really hurts us offensively

Duhon did the same stuff last year too, except he was playing better and we expected less, so it wasn't nearly as glaring. He takes at least 1 of those ultra long bombs a day. Those should be saved for the Tim Hardaways of the world, and I'm sure even he drove his coaches nuts.

He's not a starter. People expecting more from him are going to be dissapointed. He'll have GREAT games and maybe even a triple double, this season, but he's still a very good backup, and not anywhere close to being a starter. There's a reason he had limited backup minutes in Chicago.

I like the guy too though. If he is your backup PG, you're in good shape.

Man when we still had Zach n Jamal can u imagine there ever being a team so full of guys who couldn't recognize a good shot vs a bad than the Knicks. We still stink at it now, but man that had to
be an alltime collection of chuckers.

I don't even mind the long bombs. It's the timing of the long bombs that hurts

I also think that defense is contagious. You get a guy like TD hustling, suddenly N8 does not want to be outdone, so he steps it up. Gallinari is a smart defensive player, throw in Mlcic, JJ and Chandler and you got the makins of a nice defensive unit...that could actually put some points up too.

Duhon with LBJ and some others will be fine. He is a steady if unspectacular player. I will take 12/7/3 from him every night.
