Nash hurts ankle, Hill ejected in Suns' win over Kings
WERE YOU THERE?

Associated Press
PHOENIX -- Channing Frye scored 29 points, Amare Stoudemire had 26, and the fast-moving Phoenix Suns overcame the losses of Steve Nash and Grant Hill to beat the Sacramento Kings 143-127 on Tuesday night in their final home preseason game.

Nash left in the second half with an injured right ankle and Hill was ejected after getting two technical fouls for arguing with the officials.

The Suns, who broke open the game with a 42-point third quarter, hit a remarkable 51 of 56 free throws in the foul-plagued game. Thirty-six personals were called against the Kings, and starters Kevin Martin and Jason Thompson fouled out

Frye, the Suns' new starting center following the trade of Shaquille O'Neal to Cleveland, scored 16 points in the third, including making all three 3-point attempts. Stoudemire had 12 points in the period when the Suns went from a one-point halftime deficit to a 109-94 lead. Stoudemire finished 17 of 21 from the free-throw line.

Goran Dragic, who filled in for Nash, added 21 points for the Suns, while Leandro Barbosa had 16, and Hill and Nash 13 each.

Omri Casspi led Sacramento with 22 points, Tyreke Evans had 21, Martin 20, Thompson 15 and Spencer Hawes and Sean May 14 each.

With the regular season still about a week away, both teams already looked in midseason form in the fast-paced first half. The shooting was on target, the passing crisp and both coaches played the game like it was the regular season.

Casspi, trying to become the first Israeli player to make an NBA roster, launched a desperation 34-foot bank shot just before the halftime buzzer, his third 3-pointer of the second quarter, giving the Kings a 68-67 lead.

Evans, the fourth overall pick in the June draft who had scored in double figures in each of the Kings' first four games, topped Sacramento with 15 points at the half. May, who had not scored more than four points in the earlier exhibitions, had 10 points.

He looked pretty good in the highlights as well, almost pre-injury of his rookie season

Homeboy can obviously play at this level, its just all in his head. Duke is content to show flashes and perform his weekly David Copperfield acts.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

so we're lamenting the fact that we let Channing Frye go, but some of you are ready to give up on Jordan Hill before he plays a single NBA game... gotta love the way logic works on this forum

Many times its not the player but the circumstances that he be given a chance to play. He did not have it since his injury.

The kid can play and while many are quick to get rid of anyone once he shows any weakness its the coaches and GM's that know the real deal.

There are 20 guys in the league just like him at any given time that can play if given the chance.

Im glad he is succeeding and hope he does well in the future.

Thats the NBA, win some and lose some!

Yeah, Im willing to give Hill a chance and all that but I want to see Jordan come out the gate and blaze up the league like Channing did the first half of his rookie year. Channing can play, its the auxiliary stuff thats obviously the issue. Hill hasnt shown us none of that. But I'm rooting for him, I guess.

Let's take it easy. Channing could shoot J's. He didn't do a whole lot else.

Too bad we didn't trade him for KG when we had the chance.
Oh, right I forgot, KG was over the hill, and Frye was on the verge of All-star-dom.
LMFAO. I'll never forget that ****.

He was hitting a whole lot of them things, 'cause he was averaging over 20 the first few months of his career.

Its like Jim said tho, he's just soft. He didnt have that second gear once the league put him on notice and PF's started looking for him.

He was always a better center than power forward. If he gained some weight and got over his hesitancy, I could see him averaging 15 pts and 7 rbs per game, which is not bad at all for a center (other than the rebounding). He is not going to be making any allstar teams anytime soon, but I hope he pulls his career together and becomes a solid starter.
