New York Knickers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced today that forward Warren Carter and guards Ron Howard, Gabe Pruitt and Sun Yue have been waived. The Knicks roster stands at 16 players.

So long Sun Yue, we hardly knew Yue.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Yue go bye bye.

Pruitt was a scrub and we hardly knew it.

Someone else has a chance to "get Carter".

Not really "Happy Days" for Opie is it?

Until one more cut is made. I bet he makes the team, though the other guy (Landry?) is playing well also. I just want a spot at some point for Ewing Jr...

Didn't i tell everyone that Yue was scrub city? LOL at the pages and pages written about him as the centerpiece of D'antoni's SSOL.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Well those guys didn't play on Sunday so it was to be expected.

Cuttino mobley is still on the roster so he's actually #16. Landry might be the last cut. Joe Crawford seems to be doing the right things and the guys like him.

I think they like Crawford, too.

Its between Landry and Chris Hunter at this point, I would think.

Ah Man! I had hopes for Sun Yue. The writing was on the wall when you didn't hear anything about him once camp started. He had to show up bigtime to have a chance to stick. it's not over for the guy, like anyone else he needs to keep working on his game and try to latch on somewhere.

How do we not move that Mobley contract? Its gotta be more valuable to another team than it is to us.

Walsh confuses the heck out of me.

I'm really surprised Gabe Pruitt didn't step up and show them something. I remember seeing this kid in college and I liked what I saw a lot. I remember thinking, 'OK, at least this guy's interesting and can play a little' when they brought him in but I guess he never stepped up and showed them anything. If it were up to me I would've went with Pruitt & Crawford as my 14th & 15th guys. Looks like it'll be Crawford & Landry now.

crawford is probably in...

is it hunter or landry then?

hahn was writing in his chat today (before this announcement) he seemed to suggest crawford and landry.

in the end...

whatever...none of these guys are gonna play at all.

best you can hope for is to be welcome to the honorary david wingate practice squad.

i guess i'm confused as to what's confusing about not moving mobley just yet?

mobley is an ending deal with extra value because his salary is partially paid for by insurance.

maybe there hasn't been a good reason, in their estimation, to move his deal.

it takes a roster space...

but d'antoni only plays 8-9 guys and we have more than enough guys who can play.

it isn't like mobley on his own is going to get us much.

maybe as the season goes on it becomes more worth something as teams either gain or lose hope for post-season aspirations vs. cap space vs. revenue concerns vs. big time players that might bounce.

meanwhile, mobley is saving the knicks money because insurance is paying part of his deal, and the knicks focus is getting under the cap.

given this interest you probably look to move mobley if (off the top of my head):

1) get a big time star worth hurting cap space (unlikely, to me)
2) trade for an ending deal for a guy who can contribute as a rental from a team who is desperate to save money

problem with 2, while it sounds like it makes sense, is it seems to me it is vital to be really schooled in d'antoni's offense. just showing up with skill is not enough. guys who are likely on the blocks like that...something is wrong...and as knick fans we know this all too well...always receiving talent with some kind of problem. it's worked with guys like spree, and it worked for the pistons with rasheed, but both cases, to me, where where the teams they were traded to had established vets who had respect.

it's possible we move mobley this year, but so soon...seems hardly likely.

who's looking to deal right now anyway?

Have you heard the news? The economy is historically bad.

The Mobley deal, traded for another expiring that can help us on the court, would save the other team $7 million if I have my numbers right.

Every game we play, the amount of money that the Mobley deal could save another team goes down.

The only reason to hold onto it is to potentially trade for a superstar or to move Curry/Jeffries.

Waiting until the last minute to move Curry/Jeffries seems like it tilts the leverage against us though. Maybe I'm wrong.

We'll see.

Curry and Mobley, maybe a draft pick to ATL for Joe Johnson. In Feb. At the deadline.
