I really liked what I saw from Chandler in game one, but I'm not convinced he's going to make much progress this year over last. His instructions for the off season were to work on his "handle" (he twittered that info when he had an account). Mostly likely, the team wants him to be versatile enough to play some SG so they can play him with Gallo. However, IMO he also needed to work on his outside shot, shot selection, and ability to finish around the basket. The problem is that he's been off the court for almost the entire summer due to his surgery. He didn't even return to the court until September and isn't even 100% fit yet. He said as much the other day. So I seriously doubt he has made huge progress on his handle and any other skills in the off season the way we hope.

Chandler is still part of our future, but don't be surprised if we see a lot of the same inconsistency this year that we saw last year.

His shot is a lot better. You can see that at a quick glance. He's not shooting moon balls anymore.

You saw him pulling down boards with more authority than anyone else on the floor, and he was working on his Old Jordan post-up turnaround move.

All those things should make him a better, more efficient scorer.

He was usually the last option on offense last year except when Jeffries was on the floor. I think he'll be a much different player if the pecking order is just adjusted a little bit.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

ItalianStallion... are you Danilo Gallinari?
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Wilson did look stronger. He was getting hit while trying to score and he barely flinched and was able to finish. Its amazing the skills this dude has at his size. He can guard most power feds with no pro but he's quick enough to guard wings. Glad he's on our side.

Gallo is another one. He's even bigger and is very creative off the dribble and pass.

Both guys can run and lead the break. Both of them had a chance against the nets an made point guard like decisions. This is gonna be a fun year.

You can use the same excuse every year but things like knowing when to drive and when to shoot is all about understanding your own game and basketball IQ. If he doesn't learn that soon, he never will. I hope for our sake he makes some progress in his game but nothing I saw on Sunday showed me he is any different from last season. Injury or not, it's not a good sign.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I like him a lot and want to continue with him on the Knicks. But if we ever have a chance to trade him for substantial value in return (say a legit young, more natural NBA two-guard and a mid-first round pick) I might be interested in something like that eventually. We're gonna need players next year - I love Wil, but if I had a chance to turn him into 2 or 3 solid young players I think you gotta look at something like that. Suppose Donnie called up his buddy Kahn, not necessarily to talk about Rubio but to put together something like Chandler for Wayne Ellington, pick #20 and pick #35 or pick #48. Now provided Chandler doesn't look like he's ready to make that jump & remains on the level he is now which is very solid though not spectacular, something like this Ellington deal makes some sense to me. But then again if Wilson does take that next step this year and I see all-star level play, I probably don't look to deal him... The thought of turning Chandler into 3 young players intrigues me and with the good possibility that quite a few players will have to be renounced from this team at the end of the year, it should intrigue the Knicks as well. Have to see how he continues to develop this year before I really have an opinion on what to do with him...

Herb Williams looks pretty good with a beard. Is his back okay? He looks kinda hunched over and pale, still fly with that hat but showing his age.

I would love to talk to Sac town and see if you could move Chandler, Nate, and Jeffries for Kevin Martin. That deal gives us a legit starting SG and clears the way for Gallo to start. The deal would make only a small dent in the cap since Chandler and Jeffries would have been on the 2010-11 cap. You then sign Lebron James and try to resign Lee for $7.5 mill per season. A team of Duhon, Martin, James, Lee, and Darko, with Gallo, Hill, and Douglas coming off the bench would be pretty tough to stop, especially if Hill and Douglas develop into good defensive players.

Chandler's got a well rounded game. He's strong, a good athlete, has a decent shot and good defensive instincts. If he can continue to improve his shot and his moves to the hoop, he could be special.

The best is yet to come with The Mayor.

While Nate was going beserk, and Danilo doing defensive work in the paint, Wil played the best all around game of his career. Dependable and effective with several clutch rebounds.

Special recognition to Ira for his insightful analysis.

one thing wilson seems to be doing is taking his time.. I like what he is showing.... if he is ready to take that next step then great for the knicks..

Chandler has really come around since stinking it up earlier in the year. I guess you could say that about just about the entire team though. That 1-9 start was a joke.

He's certainly not the brightest bulb and he can't carry a team but he's a nice complimentary piece be it a starter on a very good starting unit or a backup on an average starting unit.

As he knocks down the number of bonehead plays per game the better he can be. That being the turnovers, the desire to go soft at times and chuck from deep, the occasional uncalled for lazy pass, etc.

There are just games where he strings together 4 or 5 head scratching plays that make you want to kill him or trade him for Tyronne Lue's corpse. If he can cut down on those as he matures he will be a better player.

Overall I feel he is a player who has reached his ceiling in terms of ability - but - not in smarts. If he gets smarter he will appear to be a better player and you'll see more "atlanta hawks" type games from him.

Cosmic - the video highlights are appreciated, but with all due respect, you seem to be stuck on stupid with Chandler.

Last time I checked, his turnovers and the "desire to go soft" seem to be fabricated to suit your bias. Lets go to the facts.

The Mayor averages 1.39 turnovers per game.

David Lee is the poorest Knick player in protecting the ball with and average of 2.48 turnovers per game. That is nearly twice as many. Okayfine, you want to chalk that up to Lee playing inside or intelligence?

Among the rotation players, Gallinari and Chandler are the two best at caring for the pill.

I don't get your penchant for "bonehead plays" and the other disparaging labels to question his intellect when the vast majority of his teammates are worse in the turnover category. Supwitdat?

For every hoisted three that he misses, there is a breathtaking drive and finish. Certainly, his shot selection was questionable at the start of the season, but he was coming off a summer of inactivity while also expected to stretch the floor from a new position at guard. He has worked himself into game shape in season.

His .453 shooting percentage from the field is respectable. He had 17 rebounds against one of the most athletic frontlines with David Lee on the bench. Can he do it again? Of course he can as he will only get better with experience and confidence. The dude is only 22 years old. Damn.

I'm not certain you are proving how smart you are about basketball.
