I am not impressed by this preseason showing. We beat a injury plagued Nets team (who are viewed to be one of the worse teams coming into this season) by 8pts. Wow! This should have been a blowout. Devon Harris and Lopez played 22 minutes a piece and combined for 35 points. Awful! Bobby Simmons had 16 pts. I didnt know he was still in the league. Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 21 pts. Who is Chris Douglas-Roberts???

Gallinari is not a good defender. CDR blew by him like he wasn't even there. Watching that as a Knick fan was quite embarassing. In 26 minutes of play I came away feeling the way I always felt...Gallo was the wrong pick. The best shooters in the world don't shoot airballs. Gallo had multiple. On the flipside he is a good facilitator on offense and led to his team high 4 assist.

Wilson Chandler BB IQ has not improved. He did score 21 points but he had 4 fouls and 3 turnovers. 6 of his 13 shoots were 3pters making 3 of them. He still hasn't learned to use his great athleticism to his advantage.

Al Harrington is not averaging 4 assist anytime this season. Al "Free Candy" Harrington said all the right things during media day but his play says he's a liar.

David Lee and Nate have not improved from last year.

Jordan Hill is not first round worthy.

I thought Hughes improved?

Darko is and always will be Darko Milicic, the butt of all jokes and the worst #2 pick ever. In other words he sucks.

Only person that impressed me was Toney Douglass and that was on the defensive end of the ball. He is a confident player but still hasn't showed me he can score the ball.

Jared Jeffries of old is now Jared Jeffries w/ a baseline 3pt shot.

Our defense will kill us again this year. We need to make trades for defenders (Raja Bell) in we truly want to sniff the playoffs.

Wow dude, what is wrong with you? I mean seriously. You have 0 praise in this entire post. Not even islesfan would go this far. Stop with the negativity. Leave that in the past. Negativity doesn't help anyone. We are in a new era. Get with the program.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Is this post supposed to be a parody of some crazed WFAN caller or something? How can you get this worked up over the first preseason game of the year? Thats impossible.

I wholeheartedly disagree with so much of what you said.

1) Gallo is a long defender. He needs more lateral quickness to defend effectively, but his length allows him to alter shots and close passing lanes. Other players were more able to effectively guard their men while he was guarding his. They play team defense and in this team defense, length is a valuable asset. The fact that CDR beat Gallo off the dribble on one play is not representative of the guy's entire defensive repertoire.

2) Devin Harris and Brook Lopez looked very effective because they are very good players. Darko is the only player with the real length to guard Lopez and he did a decent job. Lopez moves well for a 7fter and finishes on the block. Devin is an all star caliber player. We do not have any players that are of their caliber. Right now if you are saying we should have taken Lopez over Gallo, well, Lopez is currently the better player. I am not certain that Lopez will always be better than Gallo-- he is real young and still developing. I still take the wait and see approach.

3) Did you watch the game w/ respect to Wil? You are finding fault that Chandler hit 3/6 from downtown? That's 50% from behind the arc. I'll take that anyday. As for Bball IQ, did you miss the ball movement and the action between Chandler and Robinson. They looked great. Chandler had several drives where he drew the foul. Chandler looked great today, grabbing rebound, moving the ball and shooting from deep.

4) Harrington annoyed me. He hit a lot of shots, but I think the way he arrived at those shots is contrary to the team dynamic. I would package him out of NY quick if he is going to play me-ball. That said, he looked like our most talented player from a shooting perspective.

5) Nate definitely worked on his ball movement and his shot selection. He effectively distributed the ball. Lee played with passion and did a good job getting easy buckets and moving without the ball to be in a position to get easy buckets. Solid showing by both players.

6) Hill needs work. Got to admire his quickness for his size.

7) Darko has a fire that I like. Only played one half, but he made his defensive presence known. I don't care what position in the draft he was taken-- to us he is a free option. Would you like to have Qbrick back? His offense looked raw, but he definitely has a defensive fire that will help this team.

8)TD looked great defensively and passing the ball. His passes are crisp and accurate. His shot was not accurate. He and Nate make a formidable back-court tandem that will cause a lot of teams havoc.

More than anything else, how can you complain about the defensive posture this team took? The Nets aren't supposed to be great, but this team beat them. This game was positive.

Well considering this was the 1st preseason game, I don't think we can draw any real conclusions. There's SO MUCH time for our players to improve between now and the midway point of the season. You've got to like the fact that despite Gallo not really being in great shape he's out there and being effective. In fact he's still a + player. When he's on the floor he's always a net positive and the team seems to always play well.

You have to be happy with Jared's improved shot!!! That's not a fluke either, cuz if you look at his form on his stroke his hitch is gone! He's shortened his stroke and actually looks on balance and confident on his follow thru.

You have to love the passing as well. How about 7 blocks? You have to applaud the effort in that regard. We will likely never be a shut down defense, but we only need to slow teams down enough to outpace them, cuz that's how we win. TD and Hill both look like they'll be good down the line if not sooner. I just fail to see any need for concern yet. If they haven't gotten any better by the end of Preseason, i'd be surprised.

Oh yeah, just one more thing. If Jared can have a good offensive year, it's a big BONUS for us, cuz he'll be easy to trade and that means huge capspace for next summer.

What about last 5 minutes... It was comical. Exactly like NY Knicks of the Isiah Tomas era...
Looks like today was the first game after junk time in NYC bbal is over.

I just being honest. Let's be real now. We do not look like a playoff team. We do not play with cohesion and our defense is horrid. Im not trying to come off as a hater because I love the Knicks as much as the next poster but I have no reasons to be optimistic after watching this game. Remember when the Knicks won every preseason game the last couple years? How did that translate into our regular season? When watching the preseason it isn't about the wins and losses it's about how efficient and disciplined your team plays. We still have some ways to go. Hate me or not, this team won't go to the playoffs playing this way.

A lot of bricks, just terrible shots thrown up by knicks; severe lack of second chance moves by knicks.

I like Darko roaming in the post and blocking the shot. Now why dont the knicks have a proper big man coach?! Can we bring in Hakeem?

TD showing some good PG skills. Hill looks tentative, not like a lotto pick should. Hill looks weak, and a crappy rebounder.

I came into this game wanting more than simply watching the Knicks play. I wanted to see improvement. I didn't see much. Shooting .419% from the field won't win you games in the regular season. I hope D'Antoni really coaches our guys on their mistakes. And Caseload I do agree with you. Chandler is coasting. He is good but he can be so much better. Doesn't look like he worked on his game much this summer (could be injury related).
