Definition: a person who makes a substantive yet unrecognized contribution; a person whose bravery is unknown or unacknowledged

You know, this guy really stinks at basketball. But he tries really hard, and when he goes to the hoop sometimes you feel like he will make the shot, even if he doesn't. And you gotta love that. He knows he's overpayed but he comes into work and busts his ass. He oesn't have much to offer, but he gives you everything he's got. And look, now we're talking about him starting some games, I'm sure he will, so he is obviously serviceable in the NBA league.

We spend so much time being angry at our players but JJ is a true role model.

Jefferies sounds like an outstanding practice player.

It looks like MDA is seriously considering Jeffries as our starting center. The only good thing about starting jeffries at center is that Lee won't be starting at center. Jeffries will at least bring in some defense and shot-blocking. However, I think Darko should start.

I dont understand why he's not more of an impact on the court, the guy has incredible agility and speed for his size, he even has a decent handle... his shot is terrible but if he can get his confidence up maybe he'll try attacking the rim instead of settling for his subpar jumpshot...

I don't get it either. He looks so good sometimes taking it to the hole, but he always misses! What the heck.

That just it. I cannot count the number of times this dude has missed an easy layup. They need to run him through layup drills everyday after practice.

I think there has been a buzz about Jeffries the last two years also but he never lives up to it because of injuries or limited offensive ability. The guy knows how to play but I hope he doesn't start at center for the Knicks. He is a very good defensive player but I think you compromise his strength if you play him at the 5. I also am a little concerned that the perfect time for Gallo to play significant minutes is not yet because he doesn't have his legs yet.

Yea I don't know if he is a very good defensive player, but he is above average. And he knows how to play, like Crush said.

And what does that mean, when a guy 'doesn't have his legs' what specifically is that?? It's not his wind I guess. Are the legs weak??

If you played sports then you had to have heard that said a million times. It has nothing to do with being in shape...but being in shape and being in game shape is totally different. Your legs just have a period when they just feel like noodles....wobbly. You aren't reacting like you want, and they feel almost "asleep". A few days of playing kills that noise really quick. Last year when Hughes was traded to the Knicks, he hadn't played a nba game in some months. His legs were shot...but he was still in great shape. Took him a week to get his legs underneath him and he started to play like he always has in the league.

I don't think JJ is unsung.

He's had an impact for us, beyond the bricked 3's.

He did help us win against New Orleans.

The fact is, he is a situational player. Perfect as a 9th man on a play off team.

Jefferies is the definition of a good 6th or 7th man. He's versatile, a decent defender, and isn't a complete enough player to start.

I could see starting Jeffries in certain games where the opponent doesn't have a strong interior presence, but in 75% of the games, that's not going to be the case, and Darko should start.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

because you need more than size and speed to be a good NBA player. He's got YMCA skills and it shows.

D'Antoni isn't really doing the Gallo any favors by raising expectations for him. But this is NY and they yearn for the next bitg thing so he has to feed them something. Not good to put such pressure on young guys coming up and though the early praise is nice think Gallo mabbe just trying to hard.

Glad to see him bringing the young guys off the bench really. Think TD and Hill both will be factors for this team. Chandler and Gallo too. Give it time. If he brings them along right and builds their confidence this team will be better than expected at least. Darko could be this years story..we will see.
