Beasley Returns To South Florida
Sep 21, 2009 7:50 AM EST

Heat forward Michael Beasley returned to South Florida on Sunday after his release from a substance-abuse center in Houston.

Beasley is expected to work out with teammates at AmericanAirlines Arena on Monday.

The second-year forward was moved into an inpatient facility last month after violating his NBA-imposed substance-abuse program.

During his stay at the facility, he was allowed to work out with Miami's coaches and trainers.

Why would they trade him when his value is low? The kid can play. I don't think they're giving up a #2 pick for Lee, but I wish they would.

Trade for a head-case? I assume DW wouldn't be so inclined. And the notion of Hill and Douglas for him is preposterous. He's got game, but it's a small team and we don't need to add any boat rockers.

I lot of people were saying the same thing when we traded for Latrell Sprewell, that he was a nut case and all that, but he was awesome for us and we went to the finals with him. Not the greatest example, Spree was a much more advanced player and didn't have a drug problem, but I think I'd take a chance. For a Lee and Nate package though - not for Jordan Hill. I think Beasley's overall upside is better than Lee's. I'd definitely give Riles a call if I'm Donnie if he hasn't already. How long is he suspended for?

Is he better than the offensive tweener forwards that we have already?

if its substance abuse coming to this area prob isnt best.

From a BB standpoint yes. I think he would be a star in the MDA offense.

From a human standpoint no. If it was depression or something a little more cut and dry treatment wise maybe but not drugs. I personally think drugs are wonderful, but I wouldnt want my star NBA players doing them.

What about fron business and marketing prespective?
I thinks all the rest irrelevant when you talk Knicks.

your trading your shiney clean white guy with Brady Bunch hair for a sulky black guy with a drug problem and tatoos. I dont think the Knick marketing brass are going in that direction.

I like Beas.. he strikes me as a good kid.

half the NBA smokes weed and the other half eats it. It was more than that.

Naw, Beas has got some deep issues man. Its extremely rare that those sort of things just magically go away.

by "eats it" do you mean like when they get pulled over or you mean like they cook with it? Cause you are not gonna get high if you just eat it.

yeah, the nba doesn't send guys to substance abuse programs for weed.

that little baggy had to have something a little stronger in it.

i wouldn't trade for beasley. i doubt miami would trade him to us anyway, not for anything on our rooster. i mean roster.

Miami is not trading him for lee primarily due to salary cap reasons. The want to sign another max player not name wade. So they are keeping their cap room free.

It was weed and depression, remember he did get knocked by security in his hotel room during rookie orientation week smoking trees.

Beas is pretty solid, but definitely not a good pr move for walsh. It does seem kinda odd that the NBA stated substance abuse with out really being specific, I can see why some would think its more to it.

sure, THC is a hydrophobic molecule, meaning it hates water -but is simular to oil. So oil is whats used to extract it for cooking. The idea is to heat it but not burn it. What i use is a thing with water that you bring to a boil, then you put the weed+butter in a smaller container and put that into the boiling water to heat it up. (keep water on the outside of container, don't let it get in)The butter will melt and mix with the broken up weed. Once the butter melts you'll need to keep it like that for about an hour. for a stick of butter you want to use about 1/2 an ounce of "regulars" or shwag. Don't use high quality bud as it wount really make that much of a difference. You can also just heat it up straight on the flame, without the water bed, but it might burn and usually does. Anyway, afterwards you want to strain it and get the weed particles out(don't smoke them, just chuck it into garbage its not gonna get you high anymore, all the THC is in the butter now). The butter you can use like regular butter in any recipe that requires quite a bit of butter- for brownies, to fry stuff or just spread it on a piece of toast in the morning

The irony is that had we tanked and won the lottery, we probably would have picked this guy. Now who knows, if this guy implodes, we may be lucky we didn't.
