The waiting and wondering is finally over for restricted free agent Ramon Sessions, who agreed Friday to sign a four-year, $16 million offer sheet with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

A source told ESPN.com that the paperwork on the deal was being processed Friday morning. After Sessions signs, the Milwaukee Bucks will have seven days to match the offer, which they are not expected to do.

Sessions

Sessions' name had been linked with the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers throughout the summer. But New York was unwilling to guarantee more than one year -- which would tie up the Knicks' coveted cap space for the summer of 2010 free agent market. And Los Angeles made a trade last month with Minnesota to acquire Sebastian Telfair as the backup to Baron Davis.

In Minneapolis, Sessions would compete for minutes with rookie Jonny Flynn of Syracuse, the sixth pick of the draft who was elevated to No. 1 on the Wolves' point guard depth chart after efforts to acquire Ricky Rubio's rights from the Spanish club DKV Joventut failed earlier this week.

That put the Timberwolves in the position of scrambling to find another playmaker, and the 23-year-old Sessions was the best option on the free agent market after he and his agent, James "Chubby" Wells, decided weeks ago to hold off on committing to the Knicks in the hope a new opportunity would arise.

Unclear, though, is how the addition of Sessions for at least the next three seasons would impact Rubio's status with Minnesota.

The Wolves have been adamant that they will wait two years for Rubio if necessary. But Rubio's decision to stay in his native country when perennial Spanish club power Barcelona offered to pay his entire $5 million buyout with DJK Joventut, coupled with Sessions' looming arrival, only figures to encourage teams interested in Rubio -- such as the Knicks -- to try to pry him away from Minnesota via trade.

Matching the offer to Sessions, whose deal includes a player option for the fourth season, would put the Bucks over the luxury tax threshold, making it extremely unlikely the two-year veteran will return to Milwaukee.

Sessions averaged 12.4 points and 5.7 assists last season for the Bucks.

4 yr 16mm--we couldnt afford that--someone show me why not? We dropped the ball--absolute F blunder. Fck buying tickets. If they dont want to win Im not buying tickets--they wont have tow worry about 90 tickets going for 20 bucks because they will have boatloads of them. A lot of fans are going to be prised off. It's one thing if he signed for 5 years 35mm but that was not even close to being the case.

We can still get Sessions if we work a S-N-T where the Bucks match the offer.

But it seems like Walsh is content to watch him go.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Situation is just so dumb...he should have called the Rubio camp and did his research...its basically his fault that Rubio is not in the NBA this season. T'Wolves have his rights forever...on the rookie scale how is the T'Wolves going to get the value they want? Stupid ass situation....

Sessions and Flynn is stupid. the other 3 point guards on the roster is even stupider.

Man, don't the bucks need a backup small forward and power forward. A Jeffries for Sessions deal would sure seem plausible. Throw in $3 million in cash and maybe a future second round pick. That solves our salary cap issue and gets us a better starting pg.

everyone wants stability...Sessions will know where he is in 4-5 years. Wish him luck....but I'm extreamly annoyed that this mofo is still the starting point guard for the NY Knicks...

All I have to ask is why? What are the TWolves thinking in relation to these PGs?

And what is Sessions thinking. He signs for $16M for 4 years to be a backup on a team that will possibly have 3 really young PGs.

Instead of signing with someone like the Knicks for 1 year with year #2 as team option where he could be a starter. Strange.

After years of not have any PGs worth keeping, they have decided to try and get every pg. Drafting Rubio and Flynn made no sense. Signing Sessions does make sense. They need two solid pgs and only have one in Flynn. Session will be either a cheap starter or a solid backup.

Donnie is a ****ing idiot. This is a huge mistake that is nothing for a starting point guard in this league. We lose Nate and Lee for nothing and keep Jefferies. Amazing.

So we are looking to do what exactly going into next offseason. ask a star to play with rookies

i have to believe the knicks never chased him that hard. did we ever hear of a Sessions visit and tour of the Westchester facilities? no. we heard about every other guy who got that treatment. i don't believe we were truly that interested.

I confess I don't know much about how it works, but could the TWolves are stockpiling talent for future trades?

possibly. it seems kahn is covering his @ss in the event that rubio never comes. i still say kahn is an idiot. moves like this will lessen the impact of rubio ever wanting to play for the t'wolves.

I don't think Kahn is stupid at all. He just got a very young talented player right now that can fill nicely and give Flynn some time to grow.

Rubio will be more than tradeable in a couple of years. The twolves will get a few more lottery selections by then and be stocked and can then move rubio for something good

Kahn pulled a fast one on Donnie. He knew all along if Rubio didn't come, he'd use our cap situation against us and go for Sessions. Going for Rubio was dumb. Going for Sessions was smart.

Oh but Sesions is dumb. Babysit for Rambis in minny or start for D'antoni in nyc?

I honestly don't get Donnie.

All the lovers still believe that he's smart for just biding his time?

Still a genius is he?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
