he Cavaliers offered LeBron James a contract extension on July 18th.

James holds a one-year player option for 10-11, which he can exercise anytime before June 30, 2010, but he can also become an unrestricted free agent.

James remains noncommittal on his future, but gave Cleveland a good indication that he could remain with the lone franchise he has played for.

"I'm excited about the upcoming season and I have never given any indication that I'm leaving Cleveland," he said. "I've been happy with what the franchise has done for me and my family. It's been great. Hopefully everything goes right and hopefully I can sign a big contract to stay in Cleveland."

James was then asked if he would be open to signing a short term deal with the Cavaliers.

"That's possible," he said. "We'll see."

I want the Knicks to be pro-active to try and get better now and I think they are putting all of their eggs in one basket.

Briggs - this deserves its own thread and not these couple messages from other players.

First, I am with you. I am worried that the Knicks are putting too much into the 2010 plan.

However, there is very little they can do NOW to make this team really any better. And if you want to talk about Sessions, ok.

Signing Sessions, in my opinion, could turn out to haunt us. We have to stop the panic moves, the insta fixes.

Didn't watching Isiah trash this franchise do enough for you?

Whether its 2010 or beyond, we need to stop overpaying marginal talent. We don't necessarially have to be under the cap, but we need guys that can get traded and aren't albatrosses. 2010 activity has involved all of this.

walsh is smart he is calculating good moves with patience thats why it may seem inaction but he really has a lot of action going behind the scenes.

with the twin towers of zydrunas and 43yr old shaq getting lebron's back, what could possibly go wrong. i'm sure bron will want to sign on for years and years and go down as the biggest star in cleveland sports history. as opposed to becoming a legend in the media captial of the world. i'm sure. cleveland shouldn't be worried at all. there's nothing tempting about new york.

Hey if it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. Ya move on. All it means is we'll have a ton on cap room at our disposal to use in different ways - other FAs in 2010, 2011, etc.. We'll be in good shape.. But to come out and say as a Knick fan that you don't want it to happen?? Man, if that's not the ultimate head scratcher. And then there's all the constant Walsh bashing we gotta listen to. I mean how do you come out and not give Walsh even a shred of appreciation for at least getting the cap in order?? On his limited body of work, the man's already proven to be the best GM this franchise has seen since the Checketts/Grunfeld days before they finally **** the bed on the Ewing trade which basically started the whole freefall. Show a little confidence in the man.. Guy's on the verge of opening up a ton of cap room for this club (he's basically already done it), something we haven't seen in years - now you don't want it?!?! Reminds me of that old dude Brooks from the Shawshank Redemption - that poor bastard was incarcerated for years and when he finally got out, he couldn't handle it.

Pro-Active by doing what? Cashing in their 50M expirings this summer for whom? Other peoples overpaid trash that they want gone at all costs?

Isiah would be SALIVATING right now! Trading for Baron Davis and AK47 and Corey Maggette.

To what end? To still stink and then be capped out through 2014!?

Briggs, honestly, WHAT THE HELL are you looking at here?

Donnie came in with a plan. Get rid of Isiah's trash - and - not follow in Isiah's footsteps (recycle picks, youth, expirings - for overpaid malcontents).

What's the problem? Seriously, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM!?

This is Sept 2009 not Sept 2010. Hold your sentiments for another 12 months will ya?

hey, dog I'm serious Briggs, my man you are irrational as hell sometimes. You ok in the head, bruh? I'm not even trying to be funny my dude. I dunno, maybe I'm overreacting but something doesnt seem right with you when you keep repeating stuff and acting so unnecessary. Pop painkillers?

I mean we got you --- you dont want Lebron here for some strange ass reason. You think the 2010 plan is sending us to hell. Dont need to keep starting new threads about the same shyt, repeatedly.

Sometimes people can't see the forest through the trees. I shouldn't have made the anti-Lebron thread--you're right--because he isnt or wasnt ever coming here anyway--and when it becomes clear that many of the top tier FA arent coming here and we are left holding our dck in our hands after 10 years of disaster---maybe you will get what I am saying. Nobody cares Briggs. You post the same exact topic repeatedly every so often. Seriously. The same topic except worded differently. That's what seb is saying. You are like a broken record. I feel like I'm watching the movie Groundhog Day when I see your posts. Like seb said, we get it. You don't think that LeBron is coming. You don't like the 2010 plan. You don't need to keep telling us. Nothing is accomplished. Nobody knows how anything will play out but we've talked about the numerous possibilities multiple times. We've covered all the bases. Most of us haven't panicked at all. We can sign nobody in 2010 and still in great position. We will have our picks back and Curry and Jeffries will be expiring. We will be in a much better position then where we were at the end of the 2007-08 season, most definitely. This much is known. If you can't accept or agree with that, that's too bad. We know where you stand. Thank you for your posts. You don't have to drive your point across every time.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Briggs is suffering from the Walsh Inactivity Disorder. Everyone expresses their frustration on the boring summer their own ways.

OK from now on we must refer to our rebuild plan as the 2010 and 2011 plan cuz all the eggs won't be in the 2010 FA market. We'll also have options the next summer in 2011. I honestly get tired of media making it seem like all we've got is 2010.

Thanks Confucius. Where'd you get that line from? A fortune cookie?

You're right you shouldn't have made this thread. Maybe the first time I've ever agreed with something you wrote. Seriously, it's about the most idiotic thing I think I've ever read on this board. Or any board for that matter (I was gonna say no offense, but you know what, take offense). Hey, you're right bro. Forget LeBron. And forget free agency altogether.. Why shoot for the stars I guess right? Screw it, let's fire Walsh & D'Antoni tomorrow, re-up Lee and Nate & give 'em whatever they want 'cause God knows they've proven to be winners, and then go trade for BJ Mullens. We can give Cuban our next ten draft picks if he wanted them. Who cares, as long as we got the next Olajuwon. How'd that be? 10 years of disaster?? Has absolutely nothing to do with 10 years of zero cap maneuverability I suppose though right? Of course not... Laughable. Utterly laughable.. Oh, and for the final move, here's the kicker - let's jump in the time machine and go back to draft night so we can re-do the Q for Darko trade. Man I wish we had that trade back. I've been sayin' it for weeks. We'll never recover from that move. Let's keep Q and resign the chucker with the uninsured back for another 8 years. You're right - Walsh is crazy. Let's go with that plan. That's one hell of a blueprint buddy. Championship for sure. This year even. I can see the parade down the canyon of heros and the ticker tape flying out the windows as we speak.. Man oh man do I mean !!!!!

I had enough tonight fellas. Heh, heh hehhhh!!! Ahhh, thanks for the laughs Brooks. Most amusing as always. You've really been on your game lately.

So he was offered a huge contract extension about 7 weeks ago but didn't take it? That means message to NY: I understand what you're doing, approve of it, and am coming soon!
Seriously, though, the one and only thing in your post that is factual rather than speculative is that he was offered but didn't accept an extension from Cleveland. You're only poster here who would turn that into a pessimistic thread.
