I like Frank and I hope he does well - but I don't see why a lot of folks on this board are so enthralled. He has NOT shown that much. He's a good athlete he had a good college career and he's shown glimpses of ability. He has not shown he is going to be great, he has not shown he is going to be good - he has not shown he is better then the guys he is playing behind.

I don't mind playing him - let's see what he's got. But it seems he is viewed as an answer - when he's actually a question. And people worry about him being traded when it should not be a concern - he has no trade value. He's a third string guard on a bad team.

I don't think its an infatuation with Williams. Its more like Ward and Eisley have had their chance and pretty much haven't done anything when they get the run. People want a change from the losing who knows what Williams does when he starts. I remember when the Knicks made a move to Mark Jackson in his rookie season and that lit a fire under the team. Who is to say that if the Knicks make the move to Frank Williams it might not happen again. People just don't like losing and sometime a change is necessary. If Williams doesn't cut it than we know that he isn't the answer just as Eisley and Ward aren't but if he does well than we have a player.

I think Frank has already turned out to be a better player than many predicted. I don't think we reallly know what his potential is. Given that the Knicks are losing, it makes the game more interesting to see a young guy out there developing, and gives hope for the future.

Frank seems to play pretty good D and is quick. That helps against younger, more athletic point guards.

Too often in the past decade, the Knicks have been a team that has not realized the potential of its rookies. Some on this board would like to see that change. Frank, who I think most would agree can be at least a competent player, deserves a chance.

No one seems to view Frank as the answer. I completely agree with Vmart. It has more to do with frustration towards Esiely and Ward rather than infatuation with Frank Willaims.

People worry about him getting traded because he is the best PG on the knicks right now. His trade value is not that high so there is no point trading him anyway. We need to trade Othella, Shandon, Fatspoon and Howard Eisely.

No chance on doing any of that. I think Frank should start. We've seen that he's at least as good as Eisley. We need to find out what we have. He has to be given the minutes to realize his potential, and it seems like he might be developping a rapor with Dyess. Plus, he (unfortunately) is one of the only players on the team that can get an "oooh" or "aaahhh" out of the crowd.
Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

I like FW--- he brings a lot of youthful enthusiasm, energy, and intensity. It's something the Knicks are lacking with Eisley and Ward at the helm. I can't say if he's better overall than either of those guys--- but without a doubt he brings something different to the table.

I don't mind playing Frank like I said. But I would NOT SAY he has shown he's as good as anyone. Hopefully he is but take a look at his stats and pay attention to how many mistakes he makes out there. He is MORE turnover prone then either ward or eisley. Maybe with more time he gets better - could be - but I don't see how you can say he's proven he's better. Certainly not in the games and apparently Chaney doesn't think he's proved it in practice either.

exactly he will get better with playing time. You can't can't much worse than eisely who misses and takes too many shots, doesn't penetrate, turns the ball over at the worst times.

we are infatuated with frank because he can make the nice pass, the dazzling play at times, he can defend his position well, and he penetrates, these are things that our other PG's don't do, they are busy throwing the ball away and getting abused by other PG's, this is why we are infatuated with Williams...

Also because Howard seems to dribble the ball forever and the moment he decides to pass it to someone he accidently throws it to the other team!

Oldfan: Agree FWill gets overhyped on this board. He hasn't shown all that much, other than glimpses. He tends to play a bit out of control and his shot needs lots of work.

Still, as a fan, I'm happy when he's coming in the game. Don't think he hurts their chances of winning and he certainly is more interesting to watch than Ward/Eisley. Also feel every minute he plays is an investment in the future, while every minute the other guys get is a nod to our half-#ssed present.

Frank made a point in saying all he was lacking is confidence. How many times have you heard young players say that after coming out of college early. This guy once he has full confidence in his game he will have the garden rocking again , because he has the players around him to get it done. Dice with his alley oops, Houston with the 3 after Franks dribbles thru the defence to kick out and Deke who will block a shot and senf Frank off to the races to make a spectacular finish.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I don't mind Frank playing - but I do disagree with most folks on this board. At this point he makes the Knicks worse. I'm sorry to say it but he is not nearly as good as Eisley or Ward. He is more turnover prone then either. He does not create better - yeah he drives but he doesn't produce good shots for team mates consistently and he is NOT a good shooter. In general I like his defense. I hope with playing time he improves. But I believe if you think he is an improvement at his current level of play you're fooling yourselfs.

Old fan if you watch a lil more closely you would see that frank creates better when the team has a motion offense , not the one that ward grew up on playing with ewing and vandummy . When he penetrates he has more targets to pass to , WHY ....because they are moving like him!

Truthfully - I think you're looking at him as a fan. If Frank was on another team and a fan of that team said "we've got this young point guard and he's playing well" - I think you would look at F.W. and laugh. If he's doing all these great things - why are his stats terrible. He is playing with the same team as Ward and Eisley and he's committing way more turn overs and producing way less assits. I really want the guy to be good - but so far he's just not.
