We set the stage 15 years ago. We were so focused on squeezing the last remaining juice out of Ewing and we also got lucky that Sprewell choked his coach this wouldve came to light even sooner.

still, the bucks and a number of the teams at the top of this have nothing to show for it either. its no doubt the knicks havent drafted well at all. at least you can see others who drafted well havent amounted to much either (if you accept the way this guy sets the stage for his charts). its sad that based on his def of "star", the knicks are the only team to have a nice fat ZERO.

In the past 10 yrs, there were many seasons that the Knicks could have tanked towards the end of the losing seasons. They could have given minutes to youngsters to evaluate them giving them valuable experience, and set the team up for higher draft order and look to grab a surefire star-to-be.
This NEVER happened, and to this day I have no idea why.

But it is astounding how many quality players the Knick have missed to pick in the past 20 drafts.

I worry that all this talk and planning for 2010 is going to cost us more time in the big pucture.

I am all for cap flexibility and believe we need that regardless.

But if Walsh is making moves for 2010, is he/has he passed up deals that would make us better for beyond? e.g., Chandler for pick 5, Lee last year for mayo or prior to the season or at the deadline?

Hey, at least we have a plan, but is it any better than squeezing the last bit from Ewing?

Wow, to see it in black and white is really depressing. A decade of starhuching yields so little!

We on the right track now at least. After the last of the Marbury trade picks are out the door the future is ours.

no, not at all. I mean, sure, he's European, but we can't hold that against him.

Ill give you either Anthony Randolph or Brook Lopez right now for him--would you take either over Gallo?

I think Randolph has star written all over him. Just like Marbury and Iverson, albeit at different positions, did. But the thing that Randolph will probably not ever do, as it appears out of his ability is to make those around him better and to play within the game.

The game is going more and more to being a team game and this is where Gallo and Lopez will succeed where as Randolph in all likelihood won't. He will still be either great or a star though. I LOVE Randolphs ability but Gallo has special written all over him as a team player and Randolph might have the better stats but just watch the effect on W-L's.

To answer your question, it's too early cause we only saw Gallo at 60% last year. After this next year then we can get back together, but we can't compare an athletic freak to someone who was hurt.

I do question Randolph's position on the court though. He is a tweener right now and we need to see how he is going to fill out and play there.

I have to say that right now, no, I would not. I was big on Randolph, still am, but Gallo I think is even more special.

Brook will be a more-than-decent center in the league but no All-Star, Gallo to me seems like an All-Star.

Randolph-- top 10 nba star in next 2 years
Lopez--all star 20-10 player
Gallinari way behind these guys and unknown other than his 3 point shot

Not breaking cahones but the only thing that I can see that Gallinari can do better than Randolph is shoot 25 footers. Randolph 100 times better d and far ahead in every other area. Can Gallinari hit 4-5 3s every game? That is the only equalizer. Physically Randolph is going to be incredible

I agree with you on Randolph. I would trade Gallo for him in a heart beat. Lopez is solid, but I think Gallo could turn into a better player. My concern with Gallo is whether he is quick enough to play SF or big enough to play PF. I, however, am inclined to think he will do fine at SF, but it is still an issue. I do think that in 2 years, if given 33+ minute a game, Gallo will be a 20 pt scorer and probably get 6-7 rbs, and 3 assists a game. I see him as Dirk-lite (only 2 inches shorter).
