Chubby Wells, agent for the young Bucks point guard, told The Post yesterday Sessions could accept a Knicks offer either today or tomorrow.

"We've been playing footsie with the Knicks the last two weeks," Wells said. "I'm sure we'll clarify something in the next couple days with the Knicks or another team and figure out what's going on."

The Clippers, who waived guard Mike Taylor, are the other team

involved, but the Knicks appear to be the frontrunners because they are able to offer Sessions a starting role.

In a nutshell, Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni is lobbying to sign

Sessions, 23, but team president Donnie Walsh is concerned a long-term deal starting at the mid-level exception of $5.8 million will compromise the Knicks' 2010 salary cap space, even though free-agent forward David Lee could be headed for a one-year pact.

According to a source, Walsh wants to sign Sessions to a long-term deal starting at less than $5.8 million so that his 2010-2011 cap number will be less than $6 million. The source said a number of proposals have been discussed, including a one-year contract.

The Bucks, tapped out financially because of luxury-tax concerns and content with rookie point guard Brandon Jennings, are not expected to match an offer for Sessions, a former second-round pick.

The Knicks' interest in un-retired point guard Jason Williams, whom they will work out this week, has no effect on the Sessions pursuit. Williams is a cheaper alternative if they can't re-sign Nate Robinson for one year.

Too bad it's a Berman report though

title says near pact

article says we're the frontrunners, what we've been for a couple of weeks now so no news

this seems like just more propaganda from chubby wells at this point. we know they're meeting this week. i hope they can get something done. cap room for 2010 is nice and all, but i think we'll have a hard time attracting FA without a young and exciting nucleus intact. sessions would add to that and compliment our other pieces nicely.

i still think Iverson is a decent alternative to Sessions, hopefully we can get one of the two in the next week or so.

Sessions & AI are diametric opposite. One unselfish, the other painfully selfish. One young with his arrow pointing straight up, the other old & unwanted by virtually every team in the league.

Why doesn't Milwaukee want Sessions?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Wallace44:

1. $$ constraints
2. Brandon Jennings (and they also have Ridnour to absorb minutes short term). Sessions would make for a logjam.
3. eportedly, Skiles & Sessions aren't in the mutual admiration society.

this is from a milwaukee fan:
I don't think you all know what the heck you are getting into. Playing on a losing team like our's in Milwaukee's small market and small town expectations is one thing.

But playing in the Big Apple and it's pressure cooker and you hard ass fans is quite another. I do not see Session as a big upgrade over Chris Duhon.

He has no open court improvisation and creativity and has no consistent jumper. Once others in the league take away some of his strengths and cut his drive off to the hoop, he will be severely limited.

i'm sure there are positive opinions out there as well. this is all about putting faith in walsh and d'antoni in acquiring him b/c none of y'all have watched this guy night in and night out. watching him 3-4 games vs. the knicks don't tell you the story of this guy's game. you really need to see him for 50+ games to get a good guage of what he can or can't do and even then that may not be enough. so it's sort of moot trying to defend or put this guy down since the opinion isn't really based on too much.

this management's view on pg's told them to bench steph and sign duhon. d'antoni previously also signed marcus banks as a pg when he was running the show in pheonix for a few months.

my point is it's still in the knicks best interest to not sign anybody long term right now...

dj, with hedo and bargnani off the market in 2010, i don't think the knicks really care about cap room any more.

What the hell does Milwaukee know about PGs?
Mo Williams went from Milwaukee PG to LeBron's best teammate EVER overnight.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Milwaukee got rid of Mo cause he was undersized, overpaid and they had Redd. And he wasn't the PG of the future for them.

totally fair. I spent a good amount of time going through the Buck's forums to see what the thoughts on Sessions were.

However it sounds like the downside is a more athletic Duhon who can score, and for the MLE thats not too bad.

The Banks signing didnt work but I didnt think it was bad. They needed a backup PG and a someone who can defend the perimeter. Good try, didnt work out.

DW wont do it if he doesnt think its worth it. Knick fans are so jonesing for some action, but thats not DWs mantra. He will take no action over bad action. He's the anti Knick in that way.

A good half on a losing team doesnt have me doing cartwheels.

We have to have someone at point guard in 2010/11. So the idea of not signing anyone long term doesn't wash unless they feel sure about Douglas being the guy.

after signing your key fa's, you can then pursue a pg through trade or MLE.

but isn't it easier to pursue FAs with more of a core intact? there aren't too many PGs in the big class of 2010.

FYI - its not really that "big" a class anymore
