according to Hahn twitter.
Mouhammed Sene fans, bad news. Sene was released by the team today.

Yes, the move clears a roster spot for an anticipated move in the near future. Hmm, wonder what move...?

a good GM would have kept him to later use in a package to entice another team to take Curry and JJ.

i say sign up that Carter kid from SL... kid was real active, ran the floor nice, & could knock down a perimeter J... i'd much rather have that guy seeing minutes than scrubs like Sene.

To find out of he was talented or not. No one is going to work for free without a contract. Sene spent weeks with the Knicks. It is only right that they gave him a short contract. Plus it's not like the Knicks gave him serious cash.

u give out 10 day contracts to players if u wanna see if they have talent or not & then extend them to a full year guarantee if u like them... u don't hand out 2 year guaranteed million dollar deals for players who won't see the light of day off the bench for u... that's just stupid IMO.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

What makes you think 10 days is enough time to evaluated Sene when he got signed at the end of the season in April? The Knicks never gave him a 2 year deal. The Knicks gave him a one year deal which was less than a million dollars. Sene came in towards the end of the season and played in practice and summer league to get a full evaluation from Walsh and the coaching staff. Some teams take a whole season to find out where a player stands. The Knicks scouted him in the D-League where he got 3 block shots a game and was a defensive player of the year. Remember he was the top shot blocker there.

As far as a players that never got a light of day, go look around the league. There are players that are really getting paid millions of dollars some 6 to 8 million plus to ride the bench. Not like Sene who got less than a million to play. In the past we paid Luc Lonely and Jerome James who did nothing but ride the bench and wear suits and ties. Signing Sene to find out his skill level is no big deal.

Sene has demonstrated that he has only one marketable skill, shot blocking. His short comings in all other areas of the game do not warrant a roster spot in the NBA. I like that the Knicks were trying out guys from the D-League at the end of last year and I always wondered why the David Wingates of the world were allowed to hang around.

From what I read, Sene didn't have a guaranteed contract. The Knicks had until July 31st to cut him and negate the contract. So they cut him today - July 30th, and he can look for another team, but we won't be paying him.

So a good job by Walsh to check out a player and decide on him with commiting a contract and roster spot.
