The Toronto Raptors’ intrigue with running a European-modeled franchise advanced again with a trade for Golden State guard Marco Belinelli(notes), NBA sources told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday night.

The Raptors will send Devean George(notes) to the Warriors.

Belinelli, an Italian guard, was a favorite of Toronto GM Bryan Colangelo prior to the 2007 draft when the Warriors selected him with the 18th pick. Belinelli averaged nearly nine points a game for Golden State last season. He joins fellow Italian Andrea Bargnani(notes) on the Raptors roster.

George, 31, arrived in Toronto this summer as part of the Shawn Marion(notes) sign-and-trade with Dallas. He averaged 3.4 points a game for the Mavericks.

I think he will do very well there--he can be very explosive and I dont think Nelson plays guys who can actually play if he doesnt like them.
They got him for nothing--thats a pretty good trade to me. That team is really building up.

damn in one off-season Colangelo has rebuilt his backcourt and gotten his team back in the play-off mix

Couldnt we have done better than Devean george? I mean we need a normal sized two guard who can shoot the three. Other than saving cap space for who knows what---so far this group has done nothing special. I think David Lee has pretty much summed it up--I don't think the Knicks have a plan other than cap space. If we get Lebron thats one thing but Im not going to jump out of my seat for someone like Joe Johnson--really this whole plan seems like Lebron or bust. Thats not crazy but why couldnt they get involved with something like this--it's like one move takes so much thought that they cant react to execute something like this. There is no Bryan Colangelo running the knicks--we have retreads from bad Toronto and Magic teams and Walsh and I dont think he does that much--more like a figure head who gives opinion.

the guy was playing in a f'ed up situation in golden state. he's 23 and in that vid, he's abusing joe johnson, josh smith and marvin williams. i think the guy has got a pretty good ceiling.

The decision makers on the Knicks are poor. We don't even have a SG. Anthony Morrow and Curry made him expendable but lets face it--when he hasnt gotten a chance he has done things--he is a guy who needs a chance and this is a team who needs to give guys like Bellineli PT. He mightve been great here over time. We spend 4mm on a third PG and we couldve had Bellinelli for a can of beans.

that's fine. inconsistency is expected playing for a coach that loves to start d-leaguers with wicked substitution patterns.

raptors ain't a defensive team. they will have to outscore opponents. but if you keep the game close, you can do offense/defense subs with jack, wright, derozan and reggie evans.

This is where I'm leaning cause if Walsh or D'Antoni had a chance I can't imagine we wouldn't have given them a better deal. (not hard to do).

This guy's #s are pretty bad. He can't rebound or pass, and it's not like he makes up for it with scoring or anything else.
