Pathetic trade for Bobcats and weird for New Orleans, who was looking to simply dump Chandler for nothing this past season to save money. Now they take back a longer contract.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

You bastid, Briggs. Beat me by a minute with this thread. Oh well.

This is great news for the Knicks when it comes to Paul's potential availability in the future. Okafor is way overrated and the Bobcats are just figuring this out after giving him a superstar contract. They'll do anything to get out of it, even if that means trading for that one-year wonder, Chandler.

If the trade goes down, The Hornets are going to be saddled with that underachiever and his massive contract. Considering that they are not the most financially stable organization, that could spell doom and make it easier for Paul to bounce. Lets see if they go through with this panic move.

IMO this trade is stupid for both teams unless more players are involved

It's not stupid for New Orleans at all unless you're talking economically. Talent-wise they beat the crap out of the Bobcats, who apparently either really value Chandler or want to save money. Bit if they wanted to save money, why trade for Vladimir Radmanovic and Nazr Mohammed. Only Michael Jordan. Greatest player of all-time but he's a pretty bad executive.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Jordan has been ass as an executive, but this would be a great move to get out from under that contract. Okafor is not worth no 72 million.

It's not a great move at all. Okafor is a bit overpaid but the difference between his double double's and Lee's is that he actually plays great defense. He's a very good player. Not much offense but who cares now when he'll be getting set up by Chris Paul? Dude was getting 14 a game as the 4th option on a crappy Bobcats team. Okafor isn't Zach Randolph where you just trade him for anything. He has more value than an under-achieving injury risk like Chandler. They could have shed salary and got more in return. And again, if their intent was to shave salary, why did they make stupid ass trades for guys like Jason Richardson (and then Diaw), Radmanovic and Mohammed? Ass-backwards management over there. I wouldn't be surprised if Isiah takes over there one day...when Brown is gone of course.

You can get way more for 72 million. Especially in this economy and especially for offensively challeged big men who play decent defense.

As far as Jordan past salary-bloating moves, again its a new economic reality now. Hornets will realize soon enough.

Yes I meant it was stupid economically for New Orleans, but lets not make Okafor more than he is...a overpaid injury prone 6'9 shot blocking center, who never lived up to his pre draft expectations. And yes Jordan makes Isiah Thomas look like Malcolm X but he is the greatest player ever so he gets away with it.

No, Isiah is still worse. Way worse.

Okafor isn't a center BTW. He's a PF. A great defensive power forward who will undoubtedly have a career year playing with Paul in NO. I'm not overrating him. I'm just calling it like I see it.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Deal is said to be completed. Okafor will be a 6'9 center once again even though his primary position is PF. Why? David West. I doubt Chris Paul will make him a better player. Only way he is having a career year is if he plays us for 82 straight games. 13 & 10 w/ 2 bpg is all you can expect from him.

As for Jordan, he drafted Adam Morrison over Rudy Gay...

They might as well 3-team it and put Elton Brand in the mix.

What the hell happened to these three...even beyond any injuries. They just don't seem to fit ANYWHERE despite all being very good players to so degree. Maybe not so much for Chandler I guess compared to the other two.

Well Elton Brand was completely slowed by injuries. Duke tore up his Achilles, missed a whole year and the Sixers still gave him a max deal sight unseen. Thats irresponsible as shyt. We'll see if he comes back, but I doubt it.

Okafor was never that good. He was just a number one and number two option on terrible teams. He's decent on D, but thats it. 72 million my ass.

OKA4 is a great shot blocker and solid around the basket.

This guy got 14 a game and they never passed him the ball.

Overall good guy on a team. Thunder are building somthing down in Ok.

Bobcats call me all the time wanting me to buy a season ticket.

They asked me why and I told them Mikey Jordan don't know how to put a proper team together.

Maybe when they read comments this one gets related upstairs.

or mikes coming to my office and wants to kick my ass.

Yeah, and NO has been trying to move Chandler for quite some time. They don't save anything with this particular trade they just get rid of a player that's likely fed up with them always trying to move him.

As to teams moving players, hey I've said it before and it's entirely possible that we use our 50M expirings, in the wake of maybe LeBron and Wade signing 2009 extensions, and go after talent that's up for sale.

Until February 20-something, 2010, we have 50M of free money to play with if it comes to the decision that a total 2010 tear down won't work for us.

That onto itself is one reason I laugh at people trashing Donnie TODAY for what has not even yet happened in 2010. We're sitting on a GIGANTIC pile of assets here - of which could be used before 2010 - to build a damn good team.
