Now that some of the 2010 guys have been signing extensions I'm wondering who we're really going to be able to think about pulling next Summer.

I think Wade is the most likely of the top tier guys, and that's unfortunate because of his durability issues.

Missing from this list is a point guard though and Wade would fill that void better than any other 2010 FA.

Watching Joe Johnson dominate the ball is like watching paint dry. I really don't see that as a match no matter how good he is.

We won't have room to sign Wade and Bosh so he's out. Wade and Miller would be pretty sick to add to Chandler and Gallo.

My question would be if we can get better talent, and more certainty if we can trade expirings for players with existing contracts during the '09 season. If the Bulls get off to a slow start can we get Deng? If Washington struggles, can we get Butler? Can we get Rip from Detroit?

Current big boys ready for 2010 Free Agency:
Amare
Joe Johnson
Ray Allen
Raja Bell
LeBron James
Wade
Bosh
Kyle Korver
Mike Miller
Mike James
TJ Ford
Michael Redd
Willie Green
Jason Kopono
Manu
Richard Jefferson
Drew Gooden
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

If some of these big names all start extending THIS summer - we still have until February 2010 to use our assets to take the other route - the recycling/rebuild on the fly route.

50M expirings.
Picks
Half a dozen intriguing youth.

So, it's not an end all yet here.

After February 2010, and after these guys sign extensions this summer, some might BTW, then I think we'll have a better grasp on things.

We're trying to say if Wade signs a 2009 contract extension it's all over and Walsh failed. Not true at all. The Isiah avenue of failure is still very much alive until February 20-something 2010.

Can't be a failure if guys just don't wanna play in NY? The Knicks are a better managed team...mission so far is accomplished.

If the Knicks can't sign anyone they still have the ability to absorb contracts. Anything can happen...as long as it improves the team responsibly it will get done.

Even though the Knicks aren't world beaters...if you look at the roster, Knicks actually have a nice young nucleus.

My pops is one of those guys poisoned by the NY media...he ranted to me the other day "knicks need a big man in the middle! They can't get a big man???" I'm like "the knicks just drafted Jordan hill and traded for Darko"....he's like "they need more. Why can't they get Shaq? Or that kid in orlando Howard" lmao....

Anyway, you get what I'm saying. NYC'ers in general are greedy bastards when it comes to sports. Yankees have spoiled us....Yankees have always went out and bought the best players or just out the grace of God had some great guys come out the farm system.

Woooosaaa!

I think 2010 comes and goes and we either have little yo show for it or we have shot our load and dubious talent (e.g., Joe johnson).

and then we watch another season of crap basketball.

Negative energy. Take that somewhere else. We need some positive energy around here.

I look forward to a well managed team. I look forward to watching the front office build a team that fits D'antoni's system and hoping that one of our young players becomes a star in that system. I think the Knicks will continue to get more and more exciting. I hope they continue to add players that I like to the roster... guys that I can cheer for. We'll see.

who are all these players that are re-signing? I thought the '10 free agent class was largely intact. Especially the big names.

Enspree my pops..lmao..ask me the same damn question..he wants to know why the knicks keep getting these soft ass players, when we need rugged guys like ewing, spree, oak, starks and mason. In so many ways he's right. All of a sudden that list of FA looks like 3 super stars and a bunch solid role players.

Redd maybe a potetial all star if could stay healthy.

I'm still wondering where's our pg coming from.

I think that is what the captain of the Titanic said.

I hope I am wrong. But this is a team that has lost a LOT. And where is the upgrade coming from?

Nate and Lee are about to possibly leave, possibly for nothing. We have question marks all over the roster.

And even if we get Lebron, are we any better than the Cavs?

I am listening to The Secret right now. Better to not talk negative hypotheticals for no reason. Nobody knows what's going to happen. You're just talking yourself into negativity so you wont be down if this indeed does happen (which you shouldn't be anyway but OK) and so you can experience a great high if it does happen. Negative energy doesn't really do anything and Knicks fans have been thinking negative for years now, although I don't blame any of them. I was big time negative throughout most of Isiah's tenure but even I can see that we are heading in the right direction. There is nothing to sulk over yet. At least do the sulking after the summer of 2010. Don't get a head start on it from now.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Anyone that says this should precede it with a "We should have kept Crawford and Zach! We were finals bound last year! Fire Walsh!!!!"

As the 2010 guys re-up, this is getting to be a serious poker game. Will Walsh fold?

My contention has been that he should have put all of the chips in at the trade deadline with Lee and Nate in deals to move Jeffries.

Not making that move confuses me as to what the real goal is.
