For the bi-annual exemption(2.9 mil). Great strategy.

It is a blurb at tje end of the article. According to Von's agent they have had advanced discussions.

I wish Walsh would go ahead and sign someone. We have been "chasing" half the free agents in the league. Make a plan and implement it. Why he went after Hill and Kidd is beyond me? Guys like Sessions and Wafer are who we should have been targeting from the beginning.

Well Hill and Kidd were available so you have to inquire. Von Wafer is below them right now. Besides, the Knicks are gonna have Chandler @ the 2 with Hughes still on the roster...signing Von Wafer with a tight 8-9 man rotation, where does he play? Someone is getting benched...probably Hughes and Von Wafer.

anyway, Von Wafer is definately a guy the Knicks should be looking at this point of the off-season. Go Donnie Go

He was not just making an inquiry, it appeared to me like Hill and Kidd were our primary offseason targets. The dude has been dragging his feet on Sessions for weeks.

Dragging his feet on Sessions? As if Sessions has any offers out there? Dude doesn't even have an offer sheet yet. Why rush? This ain't Isiah. He knows what he's doing.

I don't disagree that Walsh is more competent than Isiah. But why even make an offer to Hill or Kidd. Plus, why wait on Sessions. The more time passes, the more opportunity for another team to step in. Obviously, he needs to make wise decisions, but sometimes I get the feeling Walsh is too cautious.

I think by signing cheaper talent that plays the positions of our expiring corpses it makes trades with those expirings a lot easier during this season.

I agree. I like the Wafer idea on a few levels. Hes a nice player, but he gives us added flexibility, so we dont look like a ghost town at the end of this season.

Donnie is playing the Market correctly...if this was Isiah the Knicks probably would have signed David Lee and Nate last season and he woulda been signed and traded for Raymond Felton....you guys know that already.

Donnie is playing Poker...he's playing it the right way and he hasn't lost any chips yet...he actually gained a few. When it's time to make a play for the right pot he will throw some chips in.

Donnie explained why he made an offer to Kidd and Hill already...veteran leadership, plus they still could play.

Andre Miller, Sessions and possibly Bayless are next...I think all these guys will be on different teams next season. Hopefully we get one.

I agree. It was also mentioned above that Donnie does not have a plan. He does have a plan and he is sticking to it. Why be an aggressive buyer when right now it is a buyers market. He made a play for Kidd and Hill and that as great. He signs them great. They say no, no big loss.

Von Wafer is Joe Crawford with a funnier name.

Wafer had some big games for a playoff team while Crawford was playing in the DL, and then the DL+ (the Knicks).

I'm a bit surprised that he hasn't hooked up with a team so far. Does that mean he has some personality or coachability issues? I though he had some problems a few years ago, but am not sure.

A buyer beware situation, I guess. His size and athleticism at the SG position would be helpful if his decision making improves.

Von Wafer averaged 16 points any time he played more than 25 minutes.

13 points when he played 20 or more minutes (31 games).

I am sure he is thinking he can come here to NY with MDA and have a monster year that would help land him a bigger pay day.

I wonder how we're going to end up setting the rotation. If Nate comes back, and we sign someone, be it Wafer or a Lee sign & trade... that's a lot of players to move around.

Possible Minutes Per Game?
Lead Guards:

Duhon(25mpg) - Douglas(18mpg) - Nate(30mpg)

Wings:
Chandler(43mpg) - Hughes(15mpg) - Gallo(27mpg) - (mystery player?)

Front Court:
Darko(25mpg)- Hill(15pmg)- Curry?(5mpg) - Al Jr.(25mpg) - Jeffries(12mpg)

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

The good thing is that adding guys like Wafer gives you a bit of a cushion, cuz they can't really complain too much about playing time. If you bring in a guy with a bit more of a name he's gonna demand PT and there could be problems.

It still seems like a move to trade out someone is in the plans, cuz we've got a lot of guys with relatively similar level of play. Camp is gonna be a dog fight.

You have become a gimmick.

Is it worth it? To trade in credibility for attention?
