Im not so sure why everyone is criticizing Donnie for not making the big moves and such because if we land Sessions for the MLE, we will be the 5 or 6 seed next year in the Eastern Conference. We will probably start Sessions, Chandler, Gallo, Lee, Hill/Darko/Curry with a bench of Nate, Douglas, Harrington, Hughes, Jeffries, and 2 of the 3 possible centers. That is a very deep team, how many teams can boast a bench rotation of Douglas, Nate, Hughes, Harrington, Darko/Curry (I think Hill will get the start)? This is assuming we resign both Lee and Nate which looks likely at this point, and we get sessions. Sessions will complete this team because he will find the open Gallinari for 3, he will get easy baskets for DLee and Hill, and he will create opportunities for Chandler to finish strong around the basket like we all know he is capable of doing. At first I wasn't a fan of this guy sessions because I heard he couln't shoot. I watched some youtube videos and he looks like the real deal (I know its a highlight reel). He has good form on his jumper and he scored 44 points in one game. If you score 44 points in a NBA game you can shoot the ball regardless of what anyone says. He may not be Reggie Miller, but Sessions can put the ball in the whole (whether it be shooting or driving). Another thing I liked about him is that he was looking to drive and kick out for open 3 point shooters. That would be of huge benefit to us considering all our 3 point shooters.

At the end of the day I think sessions averages somewhere in the 17 points 11 assists 4 rebounds 2 steals range. I think he is a complete player who is capable of thriving in this offense, and making the other players around him better.

this team is athletic and can play some D

Sessions
Chandler
Gallinari
Lee
Hill

TOney
Nate
Hughes
Curry
Darko
Big Al

So let's give Donnie some credit here. IF we land Sessions, we are looking at a playoff spot, have a great young core of players under 23 (sessions, chandler, hill, gallo, douglas, not sure about nate and lee i think they are older), and a ton of cap space to sign a guy like Lebron.

I give you a A+ Donnie

Yeah, for serious

If we get Sessions, and I realize that it is still an if at this point, I think the Knicks have a chance at really being a decent team this season and will make the playoffs.

I think Curry will come back for a good season. There is still alot of uncertainty, but I think we're going places.

We're not likely getting Sessions; And Lee and Nate might very well not be here as well.

So I don't know how anyone can really say the roster is shaping up.

Gallo is a big question mark. Hill has looked marginal at best. TD might be a great back up PG, but Duhon is still the starter and would be a back up on any other team.

Curry still weighs 335!

So roster shaping up? To what, a pile of poo?

I think if we get Sessions that is really going to make us better. We'd have him and Gallo with their high IQ going to work on the court. That would be really really nice, but I think a S&T is the best way to obtain him, perhaps the only way.

Hopefully Chandler and Hill with their athleticism would get lots of easy baskets, not to mention Lee as well. Hate to say it, but things might really have a lot to do with Curry. We are all about offense and so is he. He draws double teams and we have Gallo who can shoot and move the ball well. Nice combination.

Douglas would have a great general to learn from, can't overstate that.

Double double for Sessions here, easy. Just hope his shooting keeps maturing.

the thing what i i like if we get sessions is that we make duhon a backup now im not saying i hated duhon when he was our starting pg. but if he becomes our backup he can focus more on defense and play all out.If sessions is signed no more nate.

This thread completely ignores the fact that Lee and Nate will likely not be here next year.

Also, regarding the playoffs, we have to beat out Toronto and Washington now... remember that. I can't think of three teams that we're better than in the East actually. It would take monster years by all the contract year players and The Rooster/The Mayor to get into the playoffs.

Orlando
Boston
Cleveland
Miami
Toronto
Washington
Atlanta
Philly

That's eight teams... who are we better than?

New Jersey
Charlotte

Are we better than them?

Come on now... Without a major move we're not going anywhere
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

ONCE THIS HAPPENS .. (The power of positive suggestion) i'm tired of the "if's" in Knick land:
I think Duhon is packaged w/ either Jared Jeffries, David Lee or Cuttino Mobley's expiring in a deal to land an impact player? If you notice, Eddy's name wasn't mentioned here primarily because I don't think Walsh wants to trade him yet... they want to build up his value. Look for Eddy to be mentioned in trade barbs in Feb.

OK, I've sipped the Kool Aid an like the flavor (Pause)... It'd be nice to see this happen though. 5yrs 35 mil

One thing I did not know about Sessions was that he is a tall PG. He is 6'3". If we sign him then we really are going away from being mismatched in all positions every night height wise.

Even if those three are signed I don't see how this roster has "shaped up". All it signals is the tear down of Isiah's mess is nearly complete. That isn't a roster that competes with anyone other than the other bottom four EC non-playoff teams for the 9th seed and the rights to say "We just missed the playoffs! That's progress!"

Given our current state, and the stage we are in with the tear-down-then-rebuild-plan there isn't a day this summer that anyone can muse that the roster is shaping up. It's not. Most of these guys are rentals until the REAL building process begins about 12 months from today.

Until then it's just an interesting mix of youth with potential - also known as "assets".

Assuming DLee is back and Nate is gone. We have a pretty big projected lineup.

PG - Sessions - 6'3"
SG - The Mayor - 6'8"
SF - Gallo - 6'10" - I think he grew. He looked 2 inches taller than Skita.
PF - DLee - 6'9"
C - Darko - 7'1"

That is a big arse team.

I agree. Sessions will really help this team go, especially if he works on his jumpshot this summer. The only thing he lacks is a 3pt shot and defense, but those are two areas that I think he can improve on. Let Nate go to GReece and retain his rights. Resign Lee, and start Sessions, Chandler, Harrignton, Lee, Darko, with Duhon, Douglas, Gallo, Curry, and Hill forming the bench. That is a solid team that should be in contention for the 7th or 8th seed by the end of the year.

+1

With Duhon coming off the bench (his proper role).
Hughes off the bench (he's a decent player).
Harrington either starting or backing up Gallo (gives us a HUGE strength at Forward).
And Hill backing up PF/C...

This would actually make me pretty excited for this upcoming year.

I really like this kid I think he can really pass it and has the ability to get to the rim. Small move but more impactful than Duhon. If Douglas doesn't really play this year I don't really see a problem with it. But Sessions and Duhon at the one that is a pretty strong team.

If Miami doesn't make a move I don't really see them being all that strong unless Beasley really makes some strides. If we don't make the playoffs I would like to see the team at 36-39 wins.

Not dealing Nate last year is a big whiff for walsh. I would call the wizards again regarding jefferies a James/Jefferies move straight up makes sense for the Wizards because it improves there defense and gives them a little more insurance in the frontcourt. They are not looking to clear cap they are looking to win.

And I still would inquire about McGrady and if moving Hill with Curry is possible I do it. He is raw and young but losing eddy opens up a lot of doors for the Knicks team. If you can do those moves it leaves you with cap space and the core of
Lee-Chandler-Gallo-Sessions-Douglas and the ability to land a couple of free agents. Maybe we can maybe we can't but it's a big step forward.
