More and more I'm starting to think walsh/MDA are not going to take this franchise to elite status..
The fact that we drafted an average PF when we desperately needed a floor general in the last 2 drafts is quite silly in way. Hill looks like a more athletic LEE and douglas is less of an athlete then NATE..n a little better defender . Your still paper thin at the 2g and your pg wouldn't be able to convince anyone of value to re-up with NYK... and why should they, he's a back up..
We had probably the worst summer league team assemble, and MDAs brother sucks all around as a coach..why didn't herb coach the team..after going 5-0 last summer.
Why should we feel confident in these two just cause they gave us a little cap flex..yet can't seem to do anything else right...after really digesting what both of these guys had to say during summer league games..they have plan A and only plan A..There's just no way you could feel confident that we will take a major step out of mediocrity anytime soon.
tell me again how after taking over a 23 win team that one year later you can make that judgement. Its just silly (for lack of something more insulting).
What Walsh has done is take what he thought were the best players available in 2 drafts, dump the toxic contracts that would prevent us from signing a FA agent in 2010 and hire a coach with a clear track of winning who is respected by elite NBA players.
The Knicks had nothing, NOTHING going for them when Walsh took over. They had years of cap hell and massive contracts associated with players nobody wanted in Curry, Crawford, Zach, Marbury and Jefferies. Now half of those are gone and we are actually in a position to sign a star player next offseason. Will we? Odds say no but the chance is there. At the very worst we will have a team filled of young players who are well coached and putting up good numbers with reasonable contracts playing for a team thats on its way back from being totally irrelevant.
What this franchise needs is someone with a plan and some time to execute it. Walsh has a plan. He's showing that. NY fans will never be patient. Doesnt matter so long as ownership is. Walsh deserves no less that 3 or 4 years to clean up this mess. No less
