Good, we're going to develop our young guys, instead of playing lazy veterans ahead of them. Imagine the concept!

The Pistons have agreed to terms with free-agent forward Chris Wilcox, according to a source.

The deal is reportedly worth $6 million over two years.

Detroit is signing Wilcox as a replacement for Antonio McDyess, who signed a deal with San Antonio.

And to substitute McDyess, nonetheless. The Pistons are in for a rude awakening.

I don't know about that. I think he's shown he can be a solid option as a 3rd or at least 4th big (PF/C). When he gets playing time, he's a 14 and 7 player. For some puzzling reason, MDA thought Jeffries deserved more time than Wilcox but that may have just been a mistake on the part of MDA.

when he got pt for ny he showed me what he always has. all-nba on 2 plays per game. lost, drifting and uninvolved the rest of the time.

This means Wilcox is worth 1/2 of Jeffries salary which is $6.46 mil this year!
Actually they are both worth about the same....so this gives us Jeffries true worth in salary....about $3 mil.

Wilcox would at least have to get the vet min which is about $1.9 mil. So this isn't a bad signing for the Pistons to have him come off the bench.
In 2007 - 2008 he had 13.4 ppg; 7 rpg shooting 53%. Playing 28 min/game. Not bad numbers. If he regains some of that form, then the Pistons did all right.

I wish him well....except for when he plays against us.

to be honest i'd rather have Tim Fugazy Thomas on the team than Chris Wilcox (who we are now looking to sign to a veteran's minimum type deal), i think he has more of an impact... that's how little of an impact Chris Wilcox had on this team.

Did Wilcox play in front of one of the young guys?

When Wilcox or Malik... or Jeffries and Q were playing even just 10 seconds? They're playing in front of the young kids.

Would you rather see 10 minutes of Hill and 10 minutes of Wilcox next season - OR - just 20 minutes of Hill and NO Wilcox?

I'll choose the latter.

Perhaps I should have said "In Lieu Of".

Regardless... We added Darko, we added Hill, we're pretty much adding Gallo if you think about it. We need Wilcox or Tim Thomas or Grant Hill why? To steal minutes from them?

Yeah, don't quite see the point.

I agree with you there. Tim Thomas would look decent in this offense. Now that it is clear Hill is not ready for heavy minutes, we need another PF, especially if we don't resign Lee. I still am holding out some hope that Walsh can work out a sign and trade for Boozer, but that is a long shot.

i'd prefer to go Cosmic's route & just play Hill max minutes & let him grow into his game personally... i don't really see the point in signing up guys like Fugazy, but given a choice between Wilcox & Fugazy, i think Fugazy would be a better fit.

If we had our draft pick, I would totally agree. However, I don't think I could take Utah getting the number 1 pick with our draft pick. Plus, Lebron and Bosh are less likely to come here, if we cannot show that we are an up and coming team. In my mind, we need to shoot for the playoffs. Hill needs minutes, but giving this kid anything more than 10 minutes a game is pretty much guaranteeing we don't make the playoffs. He is just not ready for big minutes unless he makes a huge jump in his game between now and training camp. Now if we resign Lee, we probably don't need Thomas, but if Lee is not resigned, we would be relying on Gallo, Hill, and Harrington at the 4. Gallo has a bad back andd it probably is not a good idea to push him for 40 minutes a night, Hill is not ready, and Harrington is not a fulltime 4. In that scenario, we need another body like a Thomas.

since we already have Al & Gallo who will be seeing minutes at the PF spot i don't see any reason to sign up another one right now... Hill & Darko at C w/Al & Gallo at the PF & u have to figure Fishlips will be seeing minutes as well to showcase him for a possible trade & so will Curry... i don't think Fugazy is gonna make an appreciable impact one way or the other in terms of wins & losses... but if Gallo's back is still barking then i can see ur point... i guess it all depends on whether Gallo is ready to handle his minutes too.

wilcox is a player that didn't really flesh out his game but he is definitely a guy that could benefit from a pg that can get guys the ball where they need it. and obviously duhon couldn't.

If we keep Lee, there's no point to signing Thomas. But if we lose Lee, Thomas would give us some depth.

Or even if we trade Jeffries and or Eddy. Let's hope! Then TT is a welcomed filler for 1 yr.
