I know he can't do anything but stroke it but that's what this team could use... a guy who can stroke it. That’s all that he does. OK, I get it. But that wouldn’t help this team out at all? With guys like Gallo and Almond, the floor would be spaced for guys like Chandler, Hill, and Douglas. Why risk him signing with another club? I dislike his athleticism even more than I dislike his one dimensionality. But if Eric Piatowksi can carve out a lengthy career doing what Almond does, why can't Almond at the very least earn 15 MPG for a decade stroking it (and potentially more)?

I've been saying this for a while now... he is one dimensional, but its an added dimension that we can benefit from greatly

I agree.

I still don't think he's just a shooter. Listen, I'm not saying the guy is Balkman or Lee out there, but I thought he looked pretty active yesterday, especially defensively, he seemed to always be around the ball on rebounds. I was surprised with his offense as well - he put the ball on the floor more than I thought he did.

Isn't this the exact argument made about signing Roberson... not saying it won't happen, but what is the rush?

The difference is I'd never heard of Roberson before (I'm sure I'm not alone) and Almond has been on the Knicks radar for years and has multiple 50+ point games in the development league

He handled the ball and went to the hoop pretty well also.

I liked the fact that he spoke excited about the Knicks system and said that since NY approached him, his only goal is to be signed by NY.

After being in Utah, a change to Mike D'antoni's system may just be what he needed.

Roberson is/was a 6'1 SG, Almond is 6'6 225. The comparisons end at the fact they are both in the NBA.

Almond at least puts the ball in the hoop unlike Robersuck.

As to Almond I love the shooting touch but he does absolutely nothing else. However, if the roster spot is there, you keep him no doubt.

I don't see it. Almond is a SG, Nichols is a SF. Unless your name is Tim Thomas GMs don't pay SFs to hang out on the perimeter. Ben Gordon just made some decent coin doing nothing but shoot at the 2. I'm not saying Almond is that type of player but isn't that type of stroke what you want from a 2? I fail to see how he couldn't contribute 10-15 MPG and be an asset... he also plays a bit of defense, not lock down, but I don't think Douglas/Almond would be too shabby for the 2nd unit

Can Almond create his own shot at all (i.e. Allan Houston's dribble, dribble pull up 20 ft J)?

I like Almond - even though I've never seen him play - and I'll continue to like him, until the Knicks sign him. Then I'll make up a new nickname. "Almsuck"? No. That doesn't work. Let me think about it. I'll need to have something ready, just in case he's signed.

I like it, but people might make the mistake of thinking we like him with a nickname like that. It's not nearly so creative, but I was thinking of "Almdung".
