Jerry Buss has followed through with his threat and has removed the $9 million offer that the Lakers put to Lamar Odom after the champion forward did not respond, the L.A. Times is reporting.

Buss grew upset and broke off all negotiations after the offer was reportedly on the table for over a week, and he heard nothing back either way.

"Yes, we have taken the deal off the table," Lakers public relations director John Black said. "Talks have broken down for the time being."

Black was asked if talks could resume in the future.

"That's within the realm of possibility," he said.

Lakers team officials, who were not authorized to speak about the negotiations, said Buss offered Odom a deal for $9 million a season for four years at $36 million, or $10 million a season over three years for a total of $30 million.

Odom and his agent, Jeff Schwartz, were looking for $10 million a year over five seasons.

To be fair, Odom didn't really do THAT much this or last season. I don't think it'll be that big of a hit if he leaves especially with Ron-Ron there now.

An Ariza + Odom for Artest "trade" is a high risk proposition for the Lakers.

I would offer Lee (S&T 7mm), Chandler, Duhon for Odom, Sasha, Farmar.

Leaves us with:

PG: Farmar, Douglas
SG: Hughes, Sasha (who would thrive here)
SF: Gallo, Harrington
PF: Odom, Hill
C: Darko, Curry

I don't think you're allowed to sign-and-trade two guys in the same deal.

i like Odom, but GEEZ DLee, Chandler and Duhon is a LOT to give up for Odom.

You realize you're giving up 3 of our starters in that deal? You're giving up a top 3 rebounder and a top 5 assists in the entire NBA as well as our best young player for Odom? That's the kind of offer you make for Chris Bosh or maybe Ricky Rubio. Not a 30yr old Odom. No way.

Both Lee and Odom would be BYC players... really isn't going to happen.

i don't think Odom is BYC. BYC is only when guys get a huge raise from their rookie scale contracts - like if the raise is over 100% higher than their last contract (i.e. from $2M to $4.5M) they become BYC. Odom wouldn't be BYC because he'll likely go from $11M to something like $10M.

Farmar & Du are a wash.

Sasha I like despite a poor year this past year.

LO is made for D'antoni's system.

You'll very quickly see Chandler is a nice player, but not near Gallo (in terms of being our best young player).

Odom is 30. I like him, but geeeeeez. And he has a habit of disapearing in big games. I don't think he can carry a team and he'd be our best player so that's a problem.

Imagine him & LBJ on the same team (two best ball-handling, passing forwards in the league). Plus his finishing ability at the other end of LBJ "no-looks".

No need for Odom in NY.

As to Odom how do you say no to 9M per year? On a championship team? Where you're coming off the bench?

Wow...what a D-bag.

As you can see, once again, I'm probably underpaid. But that's OK. At the end of the day, if you can't live on $33 million, then you can't live.

You are right about Odom not being a BYC, if his salary is decreasing. But BYC is not limited to rookie scale contracts. His 08/09 salary was 11.7M, he is looking for $50m over 5 years, so he is not receiving an increase of over 20%. But because Lee would be a BYC, this still doesn't happen on these economic terms.

Oh Dumb's agent is likely the culpret on this trying to get a market.

This is a very fair offer for him and he will likely take it if they giv it back.

i love odom as a supporting player. so does kobe. kobe will find a way to make it happen.

odom here would be a disaster - he cannot carry a team remotely. LBJ is not coming here for Odom to be his wing man. it's not happening.
