Excellent. Eddy Curry and Jefferries for Dampier and some crap would be just fine with me.

Is Isiah Tomas hired as Dallas JM?

I'm surprised the people who criticized Cuban for overspending are not criticizing Orlando now

I don't understand all the Gortat bashing. He's not great but he's tall, long, mobile, and young. It's not like the Magic are adding Jerome James to that figure who was trying to cash in on his last contract

this just shows that Orlando is dedicated to winning a title. gortat isnt the difference in making the playoffs or not, but the depth he adds will win them a few extra regular season games. He's a good backup or fringe starter and he's put up great numbers when given playing time. Having a good backup lets Howard be that much more aggressive, especially on defense.

They have the best team in the East and are showing the team and the fans they are not only commited to winning, but to winning it all. They care about home court, regular season wins and keeping Howard fresh with a good backup.

They can play him a bit at the 4.

Dwight is watching Hakeem in high def all summer.

It gives them options until the generalissmo himself reappears from his european exile an makes his north american presence know. WE talking about the elusive Fran Vasquez!

ALso he (Gortat) got a new disney attraction: "Waiting For Gortat!"

Gortat is a player on the rise. Realistically I think he's another Zaza Pachulia, but that is a useful 15-20 minute per night big off the bench.

He doesn't suck. He's not worth relying and is a role player that was a great sub for Dwight Howard. Not like the Magic are going to be under the cap anytime soon with the core of Howard, Carter, Lewis, Nelson.

Terrible signing for the Mavericks because they would've needed 25-30 MPG to extract any value from the contract. The MAgic just need him when Dwight needs a breather or get sin foul trouble

Disagree with that. He may not be a starter in the league, but he's definitely a useful rotation player and a good backup center.

he's Jared Jefferies the Euro version IMO... i don't see him as any viable starting C option for any team... i would not lock up any longterm dollars into a player like that... sorry, but i didn't see anything special about this guy... full MLE is way overpaying for this guy IMO.

Obviously full mle is overpaying but he doesn't suck. He's a useful player and did a great job filling in for Dwight when called upon.

well that's the point... full MLE is overpaying for a guy like that... i would take Jared Fishlips on a LLE contract anyday too... when i say he sucks i'm talking along those terms.

This is a bogus story DB.com refuted the rumor herehttp://www.dallasbasketball.com/fullColumn.php?id=1829:
We’ve taken a good, hard MediaWatchDog look at where this came from. … and we find it to be the ‘Channel 6 In Orlando Said It’’ variety. Point-by-point, here's what we're seeing:

1. Friday on a Magic chat forum, a brand new poster opens an account and says the Magic are signing Bass. Claims he has inside info. It precedes the signing getting out from the media, so when they get confirmation within an hour or less, he's acclaimed as a genuine insider. Discussion and praise ensues.
2. Saturday he comes back again, cites his earlier prediction as his bona fides of being a genuine insider, and says he knows for a fact Gortat will be matched and that it will be announced Monday (today). Sources? None. Can't say. Discussion and praise ensues.
3. Sunday he comes back again and trumpets that he just heard on the Channel 6 News in Orlando that the Magic will match on Monday, thereby validating his prediction. Oddly, no one else in Orlando heard the story, but no biggie for most. Discussion and praise ensues.
4. Someone goes from there to the realGM boards and shares the news on the GENERAL NBA board. The same thing happens on the realGM Orlando board. The report is (and this is an important distinction): "someone on a Magic chat forum saw a ch 6 news item saying Gortat would be matched on Monday." Discussion and praise ensues.
5. People now see three or more separate forum discussions going and jump to a conclusion: a bunch of people in Orlando saw this item on the news and are talking about it. It must certainly be a fact, they think. But the reality is this: one guy (not coincidentally, the one who had a vested interest) SAID he saw it. A bunch of people reacted and passed the tale along. Or maybe he is the one passing the tale along from one forum to another.

What an entrance to the forum.

An NBA source has told the Orlando Sentinel that the Orlando Magic will match the five-year, $34-million offer sheet extended by the Dallas Mavericks to Marcin Gortat and thus retain him. The team would not be able to trade him until Dec. 15, at the earliest, if that's what the team wants to do.

Humm, db.com is now confirming that it is indeed a valid story http://www.dallasbasketball.com/fullColumn.php?id=1830
DB.com has learned that Orlando management is telling people – including a major corporate sponsor in Florida – that the Magic now plans to match and retain center Marcin Gortat.
Gortat, of course, had signed an offer sheet for the full-MLE with Dallas. The Mavs were very confident in their pursuit of him, and the Magic had indicated that price was too steep for their backup center.
