I know it just started but this crap sucks. We are supposed to make our team stronger to get someone to come here next year and all we did was make our draft picks and get Darko. That's not going to make us better. Now we're being turned down by has-beens for less money to play on equally crappy teams. We aren't getting anyone with the MLE. Papers have nothing left to write about now, so why not bring up Andre Miller? So our biggest offseason move will be getting Lee and Nate to accept qualifying offers? Yay. More chucking and no defense to come from those two. I expected something more. Nothing huge but just something. Now you can see why the Nate/Jeffries for Kenny Thomas non-move was a big mistake.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Well we did just make 2 first round draft picks. Not sure why that doesn't excite people.

wait until next off season when Lebron, Wade and Bosh all use the Knicks to get max deals from their respective teams.

And then we sign a bunch of second tier talent and proceed to win 39 games for the next five years.

I think you need to relax with that. I understand you are not a cap space fan but the fact of the matter is if a team has at last some respectability, they will sign good-great players. The sad thing is we don't even have 2nd tier talent on this team so even if that was the case it would be an upgrade over anything we have.

So because one guy was a moron, another one can't make a move to improve the team? I'mnot asking for flash. I'm asking to make this team much better for the upcoming season. Right now, they are the same exact 32 win team.

I believe the team is better... just because there hasn't been a move or rumor that has hit the backpages doesn't mean the team hasn't improved moving forward. I like Hill and Douglas and think they'll be around her for a while. Not to mention both Jason Kidd and Grant Hill seem to have legitimately considered NY which wouldn't have happened even last year

Personally, I'm glad this team is being run as a sports franchise as opposed to a soap opera for grown men to gossip about. Nice that the team is about basketball for once

Last year there was a buzz around Gallinari, yet there is no buzz around Hill or Douglas. Could that be because the buzz around Gallinari was negative and we prefer the bad stuff?

An impressive move was jimmimous post in this thread. I was impressed with that move and it had flash and excitement as well.

Last year was a deeper and better draft and Gallinari had higher expectations. I was always a Gallo fan so I'm not one of those people you are referring to.

I think at least one more move will be made before the offseason ends. Although I don't think this will be a very busy off season in general. I don't mind the lack of activity but, I would mind if all we've seen so far is all we're getting. I'll be disappointed too if this is all we've done by the time training camp rolls around.

Don't confuse change with improvement or the overratedness of a good starphuck.

Kidd or Hill would be a solid chemistry maker.

I like the lack of splash moves. This small stuff adds up.

We have assets to do things. Let the rookie young GM's starphuch themselves. WE are shedding contracts and taking assets.

The old man will have his day.

Better to do nothing than do somthing stupid.

Maybe. I don't remember too many people having high expectations of the guy. Maybe some of the cats that saw him in Europe but the majority of New Yorkers hated the pick and still do. Yet the buzz on this site was there for weeks before summer league. Yet with Hill and Douglas there is very little. We rather moan about the loss of Kidd and Hill, two vets that I wanted, but would not have made much difference here in terms of record.

I don't care about those guys, really. I care about how the franchise is perceived. We are being passed over by old ass players while offering more money. This means that our team cannot lure anyone here simply with money and "this is NYC". They're going to have to improve significantly on the court. Oh and Lebron or anyone wont come here unless we have enough cap space for 2 max deals. Nobody is coming here to play with Wilson Chandler.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

We get Douglas whom is really very good btw, a healthy eddy for 15min a game. IM talking vintage eddy! DLee who takes 1000 jumpers every day, JHill at the 5 for 15 min and running, and darko playing the other 18 min (Dlee at the 4) and a healthy Gallo, we are improved.

No Q improves us.

No Marbury stench improves us.

Chandler with confidence could also be a big improvement.

A vet point would have been nice. Trades can still happen, stay tuned!

what moves were expected? Hughes and Harrington are high priced expiring deals; trading either would result in similar deals and talent. Nate and Lee are RFA and can't be moved easily. Gallo, Chandler, Hill, Douglas are here to stay. Darko was just traded for. Jefferies may go with Nate. Curry ain't going nowhere. That leaves Duhon and Mobley.

What are you expecting?

i will bust a Godzilla nut as long as Donnie manages to dump Fishlips or Curry's contract off our books & somehow gets some value in return for D Lee & Nate this year rather than letting them walk for nothing.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Kidd actually got more money from dallas than we were offering. and I think Hill got the same amount. I'm not sure about the contract details, I think NY offered him a 1 year contract with an option for a 2nd, whereas PHO simply gave him a 2 year contract. I don't think NY looks too bad for not getting Kidd, or Hill. The way I figure it we're just finding out that it's going to be difficult to get quality veterans to come here for frugal contracts when they could just as easily go to a playoff or championship caliber team. Which makes sense I guess.

Right now I think I'd actually rather offer contracts frugal deals that have a higher chance of being turned down as opposed to going the Jared Jeffries route where we offer a large sum of money which basically guarantees we land the player, only to wind up with a drastically overpaid role player as a result.

I think Donnie has tried to make good deals but you can't fault him for not having the assets to get them done.

He's not going to overpay either just to bring some excitement to the franchise. We're still in that early stage where we have to acquire good assets and once that is done, then we can use those assets to make this team significantly better.

This team isn't going to make the playoffs this season, but at least Donnie is slowly improving our situation. People seem to forget how deep of a hole Isiah put us in.
"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)
