Maybe this is the move Walsh claimed to have in his back pocket. James expires this summer I believe. This needs to happen.

Mike James is a hard working heady player in the last year of his deal. That would be a great fit for us. Moving JJ's contract. With Nate potentially leaving and Dunhon's durability in question we are light on guards.

If we get the local boy from L.I. Mike james aboard then that pretty much would indicate" bye bye Nate"

duhon, t. doulgas, mike james: 3 point guards on the roster is just enough.

yea but Duhon is the only real PG of that group. James and Douglas are good players that can handle but neither are guys you want running the team.

We will. DW is patience king. This roster has a long way to go

Totally for this....I've been suggesting this for awhile when discussing with my friends.
This is especially neeeded if we sign Grant Hill.....then we will have too many Forwards and in need of another PG since Kidd rejected our offer.

Salaries match perfectly -- both are $6.466 million for this year.
But Mike James is an expiring and Jeffries has 1 more year. Great if we can shed his salary.

Not necessarily. This could be just a salary dump.

Wash needs another Big and has plenty of guards....and we need another PG and have an excess of Bigs. This balances both rosters. Mike James just turned 34 yrs old while Jeffries will be 28 in Nov. so they have a younger player.

Not a major move by either team as both are bench players. I think it is a good trade for both teams.

Jeffries is awful. I'd use the LLE or MLE on an FA before I took back the extra salary on his contract unless NY was giving me draft picks or good young players.

The Wizards love Jeffries and tried to keep him. He just signed for more money and wanted to play for Isiah.

I can't think of anything about Jeffries that I would miss. He has gone from a guy with some upside to a vet who knows what to do to stay in the league and get a little time on the court. It is nice to have a gm who is proactive as opposed to reactive as Isiah was in the Jeffries/Balk offseason.

It is really simple. Mike James is a 34 yrs old second/third string PG being way overpaid at $6.466 Million. And the Wizards have too many guards so they want to trade him. Salaries have to match.

Do you really think some team is going to trade them a really good player making $6+ million for Mike James? The Wiz are getting back equal value for James if they trade for Jeffries.

Even if it's necessary to throw in some cash and a 2nd round pick, this trade is worth doing.

Walsh if Washington wanted a second round pick too, give it to them. Getting rid of Jeffries contract and adding a better player in James would be a godsend.

No brainer, MIke James plays tough defense and can stick the 3. He'd help us more than Jefferies next year and relieve that salary.

No, you waive James, sign a player superior to Jeffries for the LLE or part of the MLE, and save money in the process. That's unless we're sending them $3 mil cash considerations and prospects/picks.

I'll agree with you on the cash considerations to balance out Jeffries high salary for next year. Probably $2 - $3 million would be fair. I hate putting it down on paper (cyber-paper) as the Wiz may like this amount and I don't know if Walsh would.

This deal seems like it has been on the table and they're waiting for Walsh and D'antoni to say OK. Apparently the Knicks value Jeffries a bit more than we fans do. Thank goodness there's at least one other team that values him as well. I think this trade is the next logical step in the quest for max cap space.

It is a great deal for us. I'd bet money on this trade happening before the deadline.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.
