New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced today that guard Toney Douglas has been signed to a contract. Douglas was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 29th overall selection before having his draft rights traded to New York in exchange for a 2011 second-round draft pick and cash considerations. Douglas, 6-1, 225-pounds, averaged 21.5 points for Florida State University in his senior year and was the runner-up for the ACC Player of the Year award. The Tampa, FL-native was an All-ACC First Team selection and the ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He also led the Seminoles to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998 and to the championship game of the ACC Tournament for the first time in school history.

Not yet Jordan Hill though? Curious? If you sign a drafted player you can't trade him for 90 days I believe. An unsigned drafted player can have his rights traded at any time.

I was thinking the same thing, Cosmic.

Things are very quiet in Minneapolis. Very quiet.

Dlee, Mobley, J. Hill for Bosh?

Chandler, Nate for Little Rickio

I'd do the first one, but I'm very hesitant on the Rubio trade. Seems like we're giving up A LOT for such an unknown. Seems like the type of deal that can bite you in the ass later. Most likely sooner as well.

You are going to have to do a lot more to get Bosh who is their franchise player. Don't forget we play in the same division. I'm not sure if Minny would want that deal because they have Flynn, and Sebastian Telfair at guard position plus Gomes and Jefferson at both forward spots.

I think Lee and Hill is more than fair for Bosh...what more are they looking for?

I mean its no Lakers package for Gasol, or Rockets package for Artest, but still.

But if anything is going to happen with sending out Hill, you would think that it would have to happen before Tuesday's summer league game.

It would be weird for something to happen after Hill had already started to play with the team

Would he play without a contract?

Can he play without a contract?

Little help?

I think Hasbrough (sp?) was playing for Indiana without one, so I suppose he can

this might be much ado about nothing

They would want a franchise type player back or picks that have potential to be stars. Hill has not played in one NBA game. David Lee is a player that can not take over games. Bosh is their franchise player and has brought them to the playoffs twice. They have just added Hedo. The Raptors goal is to make it to the playoffs this season. Do you think will get equal value if the take away Bosh and get Lee in Toronto? The Raptors already have lost two star players in VC and T-Mac. As a GM who wants to be the GM that traded Bosh for David Lee and Hill to division rival. Add Bosh to this team and the Knicks are making the playoffs. With David Lee we are talking about another 32 or 33 wins again.

I'd do the first one, but I'm very hesitant on the Rubio trade. Seems like we're giving up A LOT for such an unknown. Seems like the type of deal that can bite you in the ass later. Most likely sooner as well.

Everyone says that, but in my estimation, he has once in a generation passing ability. Personally I think Nate is enough to get it done and that's what I'd go for. But if they twisted my arm for Chandler too well okay. I'd ask for Gomes or Smith to come back if that's what they want. Rubio is a once in a generation passing talent. I'm not going to pretend to know how Rubio's career will turn out. But what I will say is that the easiest way to figure if a player is going to be great or not is if he has a function that he excels at. For example, i think Terrence Williams is going to be real good even though his shot sucks... he just seems to do everything else well. But does he excel at anything? I'm not saying Rubio will come in and be a great point immediately or be better than I guy who is pretty good at passing like Devin Harris. But what I'm saying is that his passing skills are already amongst the best in the game and if he can blend that with the rest of the growth needed to be a great NBA point we're talking about a multiple all star. I haven't bought a jersey since the Ewing years but I'm telling you my broke ass will be the proud owner of an authentic Rubio home jersey the first day it is available because I'm that much of a believer in his game

And sorry for the epic post but I really truly believe he is a future stud in this league and the last time I went off about a guy I wanted the Knicks to draft was Danny Granger on RGM... I love following he prospects, talk about them in threads, but never do I gush about a prospect like I am about Rubio. If the Knicks have an opportunity to get him for quality yet replaceable parts and don't do it, I believe the franchise will regret it for over a decade

All thats all well and good if we live in a perfect world, but how confident are they that he is even going to re-sign? Sure, Bosh is better than Lee (not that much tho, cause Bosh is overrated) but is Lee and Hill better than nothing?

And again, what about the package that Memphis took for Gasol and the Kings took for Artest.

Lee + Hill is good enough for Bosh. Anything more is too much.

Bosh isn't a franchise player.

If......(and its a big if), the Knicks were to acquire Bosh,

Could they resign him before his contract expires?

Does that save cap money in any way to try and bring in a 2010 big name?

Sorry for the million posts, but Im bored and tired of studying....

If the Jordan Hill signing delay has anything to do with Grant Hill and a trade (even if it involves Steve Nash, who is supposed to be in contract talks with Kerr this week)...I will be FURIOUS

Other than take Hill's salary off the books, no. Where it helps the team is that he'd have a full season of recruiting his All Star buddies when they go the strip club or play cards or play xbox live

And again, what about the package that Memphis took for Gasol and the Kings took for Artest.
You're look at the difference between being in the playoffs and not being in the playoffs. Trust me the Raptors want to be in the playoffs. If the Raptors wanted Lee so bad they would have given him an offer. Also If a combination of Hill and Lee are so good why make the trade to a division rival in the first place? As far as Memphis, you are talking about one of worst franchises in basketball. Surely you don't think the Raptors are going to give Bosh away for free. They can get a better package then Lee and Hill for Bosh who has not even reached his peak. You don't believe me? Look at David Lee in free agency. You think teams don't look at Bosh as a big star? Watch how many teams jump at him next offseason. And trust me his agent won't have to make up things like David Lee's agent. Getting Lee and Hill does not benefit the Raptors as much as Chris Bosh on the Knicks.

What type of impact can Lee bring to the Raptors if there is no Chris Bosh?
