wonder if they use it to chase DLee? they need a PF and Lee has looked good against them before.

If Lee wants to go there, he does have SOME leverage, he could threaten to just play out the QO and our cupboard may be too bare to just an asset like Lee walk next year.

question is, can we get them to take at least Jefferies in a s&t. with the $10M exception it might be workable.

Yes we can include Jeffries for the exception.

Lets say Knicks and ORL were to make this deal here is how it would work:

DLee is signed to a 10mil offer sheet.
Since its the first year of the deal, LEE is a BYC player.
BYC reduces tradeable salary by 50% so David's trade value will be 5mil.
Add in Jeffries and even with his trade kicker, the Knicks would be sending about $12.5 mil to ORL.

12.5 mil is within 125% of 10mil.

Trade approved.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Good thought. David Lee+Jefferies for the trade exception, Orlando's first rounder and the rights to Fran Vazquez.

But what do we get back? We probably won't use that trade exception and they expire in a year, right? I can see giving Nate up for cap space (to a point, think a mid to low first would be fair), but Lee should get us somthing better back...

edit - Yeah as that post before said, something back

Agreed- but its a matter of what the market will dictate.

It rids of us JJ isn't that something? Add in not paying LEE and we're totally in the sign 2 FA drivers seat for 2010.

That is a great trade. Vasquez is a long shot as he might not ever come to the NBA. I think he likes being a big fish in a little pond than a small fish in a big pond.

orlando is really close to luxury. they'll just go after brandon bass instead. dallas isn't going to re-sign him.

He would actually make sense for them and clean up on the boards and make there bench a lot stronger. But I think there strength is in there ability to put Lewis at the power forward.

But getting rid of Jefferies with Lee doesn't sound to enticing to me. Walsh big blunder if he could have used Nate to get rid of the guy.

Lee is perfect in ORL with DHoward behind him.
David Lee+Jefferies for the trade exception, Orlando's first rounder and the rights to Fran Vazquez.

You put DLee with Dwight and the opponents 2nd chance points is nothing but a fantasy.

haven't seen much of Bass but I think in the ORL offense a PF who can hit some jumpers is MUCH more effective and Lee is a MUCH better player than Bass.

Looking at Orlando's current roster.

C-Dwight
PF-DLee
SF-Lewis
SG-Half a man half a season
PG-Nelson

Bench-Pietrus, JJ Reddick

Not much else after that. They can use JJSkinny as their other defensive stopper against LeBron.

Yeah, that trade of DLee and JJSkinny really makes sense for them. I would do it since it will only cost them a late first rounder and a spaniard with stage fright.

Why would Orlando be interested in a PF that doesnt have a consistent outside shot? Orl was successful this past post season because the other team had no choice but to defend the other 4 players, not named Howard, that were hanging around the 3pt line.

Not sure about that. They had too many shooters and not enough lunch pail guys. They could have used DLee against the Lakers this year. Gasol created havoc in the offensive boards.

Lee + Jeffries for JJ Reddick (who actually started to look like an NBA player in the playoffs)

why would Orlando take back Jeffries? the lux tax implications may cause them to balk on a deal. In reality, if they sign and trade for lee they are already bailing Walsh out of a situation where he could lose Lee for nothing

Say what you want about fishlips but one thing he can do is defend. He can defend against Kobe and LeBron. Jeffries on a team like ours is painful. Jeffries on a team like Orlando is perfect coming off the bench as a stopper.
