RealGM:
The Knicks could look to get a point guard out of a sign-and-trade for forward David Lee.

Lee is a restricted free agent and only the Trail Blazers can afford to sign him outright. However, Portland doesn't appear willing to give him $10 million to serve as LaMarcus Aldridge's backup.

The Blazers also believe that the Knicks would match a lower offer.

Portland is interested in a sign-and-trade and has discussed scenarios with agent Mark Bartelstein. The proposed deals have included Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw.

I think Blake could be huge here...I wouldn't be bowled over by that deal, but its not too bad. The best park is Blake/Outlaw could help us short term and then both expire at the end of the year, so they may even help us at the deadline.

Travis Outlaw is one of my favorite players.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

the only discussion that Mark Bartelstein has had with POR is this: "Guys, can you call me back? This is the 15th day in a row I am leaving a message with no return phone call. I'm Lee's agent and I'm trying to drudge up some media attention for my guy. Maybe Outlaw and the Spanish dude for Lee. Call me back, thanks."

<Mark Bartelstein> OK, now to tell RealGM that POR and I have had a S&T chat.

We have to come out of any sign and trade with young talent and picks.

I know the 2010 plan trumps all but I almost wish that we could get value beyond one season out of Lee. Like Webster or a re-signed Outlaw.

btw, I think Josh McRoberts is a target if Lee exits

We can re-sign one or both of those two players (Blake and Outlaw) for reasonable contracts that won't impede the 2010 plans.

The source was Mark Berman. Real Gm quotes his article and if you read the full article you will see he is the source. My guess is Lee is a Knick but I also like Blake and Outlaw.

They're both solid role players who can help teams. There's nothing wrong with that. We're not gonna get tons of gold for D Lee in an S & T.

The Portland RealGM thread for this is titled: Re: Off the NY Boards, and it would seem that most of them think they are getting a great deal, and even a steal, if they pick up Lee for Blake and Outlaw.

Well we would be getting TWO players who would be top 8 rotation players on any team. It's not like it's an amazing deal but I don't think it's bad. If the salary rules were as lax as they are in baseball, I'd prefer to keep Lee. But that's like the saying that if my grandmother had a penis, testicles, and a scrotum, she'd be my grandfather.

Man no question, them cats would be doing backflips getting Lee for that trash. Specifically, Steve Blake. The package would have to start with Outlaw, not end with him. Meaning, he shouldnt be the best player we're getting back.
