From SI: The Jazz, it's been learned and confirmed, engaged in recent trade talk with the Houston Rockets about a possible deal that would have brought seven-time NBA All-Star swingman Tracy McGrady to Utah for small forward Andrei Kirilenko. The Jazz, however, have no current desire to make the trade -- for reasons including, but not necessarily limited to, McGrady's health situation and contract status

The key takeaway here is that the Rockets are willing to take on a 2 year deal in order to move TMac.

If the Jazz turned them down, then there's a decent chance we could get away with trading them Curry, Mobley and maybe a small chip to get the deal done.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

AK47 is still a good player tho, he just didn't get the minutes last year that he was getting before... Curry hasn't been a productive player for over a year... he'll have to prove he can be productive again before we can trade him IMO.

It would probably be something like TMac for Chandler/Curry/Mobley... How do you sell to your fans the Artest to Ariza downgrade to the fans while then giving away TMac, who happens to be the Rockets most heavily marketed player? At least by getting Chandler the team can sell the youth movement shtick. While I don't like giving away Chandler, I do like jettisoning Curry. And I'd package anyone on the roster to get rid of his fat ass. And hopefully Nate + Jeffries for expiring corpses is still on the table with Sac.

AK47 is a great player and if we werent commited to cap space I would love to add him. He makes Zach money however.

that's what I'm saying --- "great player"???? Is it still 2003?

Not only has AK fallin completely off, but he's getting paid superstar jack and he has a decent amount left on his contract.

Those players weren't fat, lazy and injured the past 2 seasons. They actually played and contributed something on the court.

Please stop! Anyone can be traded and I mean anyone. All it takes is one GM/Coach to think he can turn curry around.

AK47 is still one of the best defenders in the league. There are a lot of guys that shoot and crowd the paint on that team and thats the only reason his numbers are down. I have no doubt that on our team he would go right back to the 14pts 7 rebs 4 assists 3 blocks 2 steals type of guy hes been in the past.

Jazz are best when he's on the floor. By a lot

No. Not for an expiring contract. If someone wants Curry all they will offer is a player with a similar deal in length or an even longer deal and that player will most likely be worse than Curry as well. Curry has 0 value. 0. Nobody is adding $12 million in salary for the 2010-2011 season for some guy who can barely get onto the court because of his weight. It's just being realistic.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

AK went from 1st-2nd option to 4th option when they got Williams and his scoring numbers dipped. defensively he is still a league leader in stls and blks plus he gets assists. Put him in a consistent playmaking position and his offensive numbers will rise.

last season Deron missed the first month and he was 12 (on 8 shots a game) and 6rebs with 3.5 assts 1.5 stls 1.3 blocks in 28 mpg on 46% from the field and 82% from the line getting there 6 times a game

the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

couldn't disagree more... Curry will put up maybe 10 & 5 & play absolutely no defense & no hustle whatsoever this coming season... AK47 will put up better #'s than that & still be a great perimeter & help defender & also block some shots & facilitate an offense w/his passing ability... salaries aside AK47 is far & away the better player than Eddy Curry right now, it's not even close.

Whatever with all this --- "well AK looks great in a suit and when he plays on Tuesday nights on the East Coast he averages 15pts a game, so he's much better than Curry," bullshyt. AK is trash. Jazz dont want McGrady who is even more worthless. Sloan would kill his ass in less than a week. thats what this is all about.

Tired of looking for the best in sorry ass players on other teams and looking for the worst in ours. I'm not saying Curry has the marketability of Dwight Howard, but he's still in his prime, he can score like few other big men in the league, and he only has two years left on his deal. We've got some work to do to turn him into a viable option, but get out of here with all this myopic, "its impossible" talk because I heard it all before with Crawford and Randolph. Not to mention other trades with less marketable players.

For the Rockets to pay 22 million for a guy who is hurting not helping, is completely out of the question. They are not the Knicks and they are desperate. Combining an asset with our liability to take a huge liability off their hands is not outrageous.

why do them favors? Curry + Mobely is a good deal. They need a center with Yao out for the year and possibly for ever. Curry never got going last year but has shown at the worst he can be a productive scorer in this league at a very high %.

Maybe we put in the $3mm in cash considerations and I think this move makes a lot of $$$ sense for Houston. Including Chandler doesnt make any sense. I would rather try and get Curry on the court and see what I can get in Dec like we did with Zach and Craford

Eddy Curry value is not 0. His value is -20 mils. This will take a lot to cover. We have nothing to cover this dept.
This kind of stuff team can shake up only with bankruptcy. But I guess we already filed for chapter 11... to avoid chapter 7.
We will have another year on life support of hard core fans that are coming to see the team just because they are fans.

D'antoni can play Eddy the first nine games of the season and let him inflate his stats. Then Dw can swoop in and trade him for expirings. Thats the plan anyway. As long as Eddy doesn't eat himself out of shape, he should be the opening night starter, stat-padder.
