I remain hopeful that in 09 Rubio will get traded to the knicks, Nash will be released for his buy out and sign for the MLE,Nate and JJ go to Sacto for Sergio and Kenny, Curry and Mobley goes to Houston for Mc Grady, Lee will be resigned for 5/ $40 with an opt out in 3 years, and Lebron and Bosh will come in 2010 as FA's.

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

Well RV, if all that happens, that would be pretty damn sweet.

All possible.

I think DLEe is goes to Toronto in Sign and trade for Bosch and Delfino with Nate.

Chandler and Mobley exemption for Ruby.

Eddy and JJ for McGrady.

Dwight Howard here in 2011.

The golden age of Knickdom is ahead.

Lets call it a "possible dream".

The odds of every one of those things happening are probably extremely low. Let's just hope that at least half of them do!

Walsh hasn't made one move for a player that he really wants and we have everything breaking the KNicks way. I highly doubt Walsh pulls off any miracle trade to bring in a superstar. None of the deal that are mentioned will happen. Every trade that the Knicks have done so far are moves that geared towards 2010, in some of the trades the Knicks took back less just to try and get cap flexibility. Only one move is a move that Walsh and D'Antoni really wanted happened that is to get Douglass.

Walsh and D'Antoni haven't given me any reason to think that they can get Rubio, so I doubt they come out of it with LeBron or Bosh highly doubtful. We all just saw what a 6 million in difference in contract will do in the Kidd case. You guys will see what Cavs can do by offering more money than the Knicks, that is why I think LeBron is a pipe dream.

I was just talking about this in another thread and I totally agree, if the Knicks cant match or exceed the contract money another organization is offering, then we will not get the player. I don't care what anyone says about endorsements etc. making up the difference - are those guaranteed $$$? Even if they were, I have yet to see it happen when someone signs in NY for less money and then gets paid the difference in endorsements - like you said, it is a pipe dream if we cannot offer the same $$$ or more.

You're right; it has not happened once in any of the zero seasons where we've had the cap space to test the possibility.

Ok then answer this - why do the Yankees have to spend so much to get people here? Its NY - they are coming to a winning organization, they can get big endorsement contracts because it is a huge market and one of the biggest teams in all of sports, yet the players are overpaid. I know the rules are different in baseball but it is still business, so why haven't the Yankees worked that angle?

That is a great scenerio....

All those moves are very possible. Donnie has proven that he thinks like the average forum guy so I'm sure all those moves are written down in his little war room cheat sheet.

yeah.....gotta give us a little more credit...we debate alot of trades and we mentioned all the deals Donnie made last season on these forums...so I suspect Donnie debates it the same way since he came up with the same results.

Interesting to note that all of the major playoff teams seem to be getting 'better' without giving much up.
Atlanta did probably the least by adding Crawford, but he is instant offense, and I think they are a better team with him.
Orlando added Vinsanity (but lose Hedo) an upgrade.
San Antonio added RJefferson...a solid addition.
Celts add Sheed (getting Garnett back and getting rid of Marbs might have been enough). They probably get Hill also.
Cavs add Shaq (and don't look like they are done yet)
Lakers add Artest (but look like they lose Odom and Ariza).

I look at the Knicks and all the dream scenarios and I think that it all starts by getting the core stars. Its easy to add additional stars to the mix once you have the core. Would have been nice to add Kidd for the MLE, but we would really need to subtract some salary elsewhere to really work the 2010 plan. I would have tried to make it work though. I mean, I wouldn't mind adding Kidd or Nash, I think it is easier if you get the two superstars first. Then sign the vet former all-stars to the MLE, LLE, sign and trade etc...

What I am saying is, this isn't our year. The star players seem to attach themselves to the superstars though.

I think we should keep an eye on Marion.

We as a forum are for the most part dreamers. Jason Kidd, Grant Hill, giving up Chandler for Rubio...Walsh apparently is too. I prefer a pragmatist.

I am not sure it is losing Odom as much as it is other teams adding talent that will make it difficult for the Lakers to repeat. Kobe, Gasol, Artest, Bynum and any PG is as good if not better than any other team out there.

Rondo/Allen/Pierce/Garnett/Sheed might be the only better starting 5 I can name, but they are much older than the Lakers so the first 82 games will take a bigger toll.

I wouldn't be surprised if Atlanta misses the playoffs entirely with the addition of Crawford. That guy will never make the playoffs.

What do the Knicks really have to offer anyone this year. They screwed up the draft royaly last year drafting a player at the same position as Chandler who is really coming into his own. If we over played our hand with Lee and Nate the team is in a horrible position for the future.

If Lebron, Wade, Amare all sign extension this year then really what is the plan. Do they wait for 2011 to sign Paul and Durant? There is no reason to use the cap space if we are going to get the likes of Ben Gordon and Charlie V.

Where was it written? The Cavs just got Shaq and they are officially the frontrunners of the NBA.

I didn't think LeBron was coming to NY before the Cavs got Shaq. Now I definitely don't think they'll get him.
