Boy that's an idiotic statement--that's like saying something for the need to say it--hey thats how you sell papers. Who knows how Roberson wouldve done if he was 6-6 220--he mightve been just what the Knicks were looking for. Its hard for a 6-1 guy to be a shooting guard in the NBA--there arent many of them.
In meaning that they are reportly offering a one year guarantee contract after SL practice, I can understand the comparison to last year debacle and this one. You are talking like this guy was just selected in this year's draft class.
Doesnt matter--one guy is 6-6 220 the other is 6-1 185. If we signed Anthony Morrow after seeing him in one SL game--what would Isola say?
Why are you trying to make it sound like Almond hasn't played in the league yet? Why are you trying to make it sound like the guy came out of school as a freshman? a sophomore? I have no problem with him on the SL roster but if the Knicks are offering him a contract after a SL practice then I can understand why Isola would make such a comparison.
He has not played for MDA yet, and lets face it, the purpose of the DL is for players to work on their skills and improve their chances of playing in the NBA.
I would look at him like he is an older rookie, and give him the same consideration as we would give anyone trying out for the team.
With that being said, the Roberson signing was a bit premature last year. If a guy has a good SL you invite him to pre-season. If he has a great pre-season you make him one of your 15.
