She opens her mouth and things don't add up.

She is going to the lecture series and perhaps a radio or tv show.

She is quitting as an Elected Govorner like she is quitting her Mcdonalds job!

I really don't get why anyone follows her.

The news was stunning. As a liberal, I was really hoping she'd get the Republican Presidential nomination! It looks like that won't happen though.

It is really quite stunning. While I don't like her politically, I hope this isn't some serious situation with her personal life, health, family, etc. I think if this was a poloitical move, she would have had a more detailed explanation.

She's facing major ethics complaints and I wouldn't be surprised if a indictment is coming down the road for her.

By far my favorite Gov **** up has to be Sanford. What a major joke that guy is the GOP is in horrendous shape almost every person that's been mentioned for a possible 2012 run has been involved in some kind of scandal.

How hard is it to run Alaska with its surplus revenue derived from oil?

Especially when Oil was at all time high's last year. Now its down, a recession and she is challanged in a tough environment. She has not executive skill so she bailing.

She is way over her head and has been for some time.

IN retrospect, WTF was anyone thinking????

I wasnt following Palin's indictment - you are probably right. They have something serious on her.
Sanford should also resign. The guy is emotional unfit to be Gov.

It isn't just the Republicans. Some of the Democrats can be just as bad...like former Gov Blagojevich of Illinois. I think we are getting a resounding purification in U.S. politics and the weak or corrupt ones are getting thrown out. As a nation, we will be stronger for it.

Yea but he was hardly a leader of the Democratic Party however the most disappointing one was John Edwards who I lost all respect for. Corruption in Politics began with it's inception. This is hardly a new development.

It's not solely the Republicans; that's for sure. But it certainly seems to be about a 5 to 1 Republican to Democratic scandal ratio.

Republicans who ride the platform of "family" values yet don't apply it, then try to use the Palin girl as "a flawed person just like the average person" is bull. I don't want my leaders to be lower educated piece of trash who are almost considered electable cuz a slice of the popuation wants to tap her!!!! This is a women who has abused her power in a lame attempt to cover her incompetance when her newscaster patina fails to win her over. Alaska made a mistake. It knows it and is trying to correct it. She and her family are opportunistic trash. Not Presidential material. The road to know where leads to her empty mimd!!!!!

Time to bury this girl.

I along with millions of americans challange the republican party to be better! One day Democrats will not have their way and the ball will bounce again their way. We need better. If not the Democratic party will also lack.

Nobody wins!

Let's not forget our local Governors who resigned due to scandal - Elliot Spitzer - NY - Dem.; and James McGreevey- NJ - Dem; John Rowland - CT -Republican.
Good-bye and good ridance to them all.

While I agree that corruption in politics is not new, it didn't go back to its inception. Only our recent recorded history.

Most ancient societies around the world have tales of "Golden Eras" when Enlightened Kings ruled and there was great prosperity, peace, harmony, and happiness throughout the country. Try reading parts of the Ramayana (When Ram was King of India) and you will get an understanding of the "duties and responsibilities of a true King (or head of State)".

Nalod,

You make an excellent point when promoting yourself as the Party of Morality and Family Values bit hypocritical when you have rampant scandals throughout your Party. Their whole platform of Family Values has been used against legislation for the Woman's Reproductive Rights, Gay Marriage, Sex Education, etc.

Markji,

The hypocrisy is what's at issue with the Republican Party because let's not kid ourselves people on powerful positions men and women have probably at one time or another done some shady things. But don't prop yourself up as Mrs. or Mr. Family Values.

We are nearing point where extra-marital relatioships will no longer be considered scandals. They have become much too common, and SC gov is now falt out refusing to resign. This goes to show that there is already an increased tolerance for this type of thing.

Palin on the other hand has taken incompetence to a whole new level. At least most politicians pretend to be "fair", but she started to be vocal about her excessive favoritism in appointing friends to high positions like it was her birth right or something. Plus she runs down wolves in helicopters shooting randomly at them.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I fully agree. And the Republicans have been the most deceitful. Their main base of support are the Religious Right and the Republicans main platform points are emotional yet they are not lived by the Rep leaders nor many of their followers.

All of the criticisms you people have against Palin can just as easily be applied to any Democrat. It's a formula.

I can't imagine how badly the press would have beaten up on Obama if he had claimed that his expertise on Russia stemmed from his ability to see the country from his backyard.
