Michael Curry out after one season. His 39-43 record (swept by CAVS in playoffs) is the 3rd worst of any Piston Coach over 82 games.

Avery Johnson, Sam Mitchell, Bill Laimbeer mentioned as possible replacements.

Detroit FA wishlist - they have money to spend

Boozer - May not opt out.
Gordon - Promise of 11 mil?
Villanueva - can outbid CLE

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I hate the Pistons...watch how they did nothing to improve the team to this point and then find a way to reload out of nowhere and get right back to the top of the
Eastern Conference

Joe Dumars seems to have lost the Midas touch. Very difficult to get back to championship level.

It is time for Joe Dumars to be either fired or step away with a ounce of dignity. He is at fault here totally.

The old man is gone but they are still burning thru coaches.

They'll go with Lambieer. Who cares.

I hope the resign Booze and he hoses them too.

There are no game changers out there in the FA market this year.

Detroit also has a problem with attendance, advertisement, and box revenue as the city is hurting big time. Lambieer can sell tickets with his blue collar act. Fine, what ever!

Dumars sucks as a GM right now. He made a few nice moves 6 years ago, but let's be honest a few things happen that really broke in his favor.

He has become Isiah
1. Nazr signing
2. Amir Johnson
3. Kwame
4. Getting nothing for Chauncey
5. 5 coaches in 8 years
6. Rip extension
7. Darko
8. Letting Okur go for nothing

Wallace was given to the guy to spite the knicks and had Jason Kidd and Shaq not been injured they would have never reached the finals. Luck and timing go a long way in this league, he signs Ben Gordon he has officially lost it.

Wouldn't agree that he sucks. He's got 20 million or so coming off the cap with Iverson's expiring. Given that they weren't winning with the team as it was before Iverson, I'd say this puts them in a nice position to be a force again.

Dumars purposefully tanked last year. I don't think he actually thought Iverson was an improvement. Just an ending deal.

Drafting Darko alone should have gotten his azz stomped out with mental boots along time ago.

6 years in a row his team was in the conf. finals. 2 finals appearances. 1 title.

realized Detroit wasn't going anywhere and moved Billups who was overextended and overpaid for where the Pistons were in a low risk high reward trade for Iverson. he didn't fit but they cleared 20 mil off the cap. Gfetting back a young pg didn't matter because they drafted Stuckey to replace Chauncey at some point anyway.

seems so. is it fair? probably not. I think it goes one higher than Joe though. The owners overreaction to Larry Brown started this snowball.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Could have been a LOT more championships if he was able to stay on good terms.

Well put- we all have to support and encourage ineptitude and bad judgement when coming from an enemy franchise.

dumars gambled for 2 seasons and won. that stroke of luck lasted 5 years as nothing changed about the team.

but since those 2 years of activity, he has done nothing of note and will be forever remembered as making the biggest FUBAR in draft history.

now dumars has to prove he IS a good gm. he gets benefit of the doubt, but i don't think there's much to him than pure luck.

colangelo was of the same ilk but since he hasn't done a bad job in toronto, it wasn't all luck.

What are you talking about? Take off the cherry rose sunglasses. Colangelo benefited from another GM draft pick (Bosh) and hiring (Mitchell). Bosh and Mitchell were the reasons behind their two year playoff run. When he start putting his touches on the franchise they went south. He hasn't done squat in Toronto to brag about.

sure...the playoff apperances had nothing to do with tj ford, anthony parker, jorge garbajosa, andrea bargnani, carlos delfino, etc. etc. etc. lol - did you not notice the state of the raptors franchise before he got there?
