Replaced Lee with Hill
Replaced Nate with Douglass

Only thing the Knicks got out of it is Cap space. Next year is going to be a long, long year with no first round draft pick and another let down with no LeBron or Wade, before anyone say you can't thik like that I must remind everyone its the Knicks. I don't know if you guys noticed this but I felt like the league was conspiring against the Knicks. Check this out, knowing that Curry wants to be a Knick GS takes him for the Suns for a possible Amare trade. Cavs get LeBron Shaq again the Suns play the role, LeBron may get that championship and once you win one you want to stick around to win two with the same team. And then Walsh's protege takes two guards, Rubio may not ever play for them.

I'm not disappointed in the picks, I'll definitely root for them. But it is disappointing to know that Knicks were unable to get what they really wanted. They have a lot of assets and I wish they were able to get their target in Rubio or Curry.

Knicks should never F with Kerr he has vengeance on his mind.

Gloom and doom.

Either Lee or Nate will be signed and traded and we will get something out of it. I'm glad you can tell the future and say that neitehr LeBron nor Wade is coming here. Whats tonights lotto picks while you're at it too.

until u see what we get for Lee & Nate in trades, u can't make this statement... IMO Jordan Hill will be an upgrade over Lee regardless if we get anything for him in a trade or not... i have my reservations about Douglas over Nate but apparently Donnie thinks he's a suitable replacement so i'm gonna trust his judgement on that one... now as long as we don't let Lee & Nate walk for nothing like idiots then i think it's fair to say we upgraded our team this offseason.

Most likely a team is going to try and dump contacts on you or you end up making an offer to Lee or Nate and then you are stuck with them. And they go against the cap. S&T doesn't always happen. There is a better chance that Lee and Nate walk. I don't know about you guys but I would still rather try and keep going under the cap, and maybe we don't get LeBron or Wade but some second tier players might be good for the Knicks. Like I said the knicks are going to be a team of consolations players, never the top guy on their wish list.

guess what our leverage is in Dlee and Nate trades? minimal.

we should have signed them before last season if we wanted to trade them. donnie is too patient. also, he is not good at drafting basketball players, for instance when he draft dampier ahead of kobe bryant, steve nash and jermaine o'neal.

i mean you wanted derozan - do you really think hill will be a better player than derozan? i don't.

i'd like to keep clearing cap space too, but if the Knicks just let Lee & Nate walk for nothing they're idiots IMO... they need to get back at the very least some expiring contracts & picks in 2010.

in a sign and trade here's what will happen - a team will approach david lee with an offer sheet, he'll sign, the knicks will have an opportunity to match and then they can call the other team and say, "we'll still let you have david, but you have to give us something or else we'll just sign him." the other team will then say, "that's funny i thought you wanted cap space for next summer." donnie will then say, "...." the team will hang up and wait for us to match. we have no leverage. we can match, but then we have two guys who know we dont really want them here and our best hope is to move that at the feb deadline when they are base year compensation players and everyone knows we want them gone.

we will not get much, if anything in trades.

i agree w/u on Lee & Nate, but what can we do about it now? just gotta hope for the best... i've been saying they shoulda been traded at last year's deadline months before the trade deadline even came around last year.

as for Derozan, no i don't think Hill will be a better player than him... i said i was a little disappointed that we didn't take Derozan over Hill, but i never really thought Walsh was gonna take Derozan to begin with... i think Derozan will be the steal of the draft at #9 when it's all said & done... i can't believe GM's got so hyped at guys like Johnny Flynn, Stephen Curry & James Harden that they'd let a kid w/the upside that Derozan's got slip to #9, but whatever... we'll see who's right & who's wrong on that in a few years... i can at least understand Walsh's reasoning in taking Hill at #8, like fishmike mentioned that guy was projected to go top 3 or 4 for much of the year leading up to the draft & it's only when guys like Curry & Flynn started impressing during workouts that their stock shot up to the top 10... i think if anything Harden, Curry & Flynn were reaches at where they were picked, & the Knicks got pretty good value at #8 w/Jordan Hill.

what do Sweetney Frye and Hill have in common?

more talented higher ceiling guys were left on the board and in 2 years we'll be clamoring about needing a starter at Hills position as well

donnie thought dampier filled a need and kobe bryant was too young and steve nash played the same position as haywood workman.

my real problem with knicks drafts from now on is that we will never actually take a defensive stud like terrence williams. that guy is going to be an artest like monster in this league and we have no space for him because of d'antoni. we don't take anthony randolph for some reason last year, because d'antoni wants gallinari's jumpshooting.

we are limited to a certain type of team and player with d'antoni. fine. i would have wanted to draft anthony randolph and terrence williams the last two years, but we don't. fine. if we are drafting d'antoni type players and you have RICKY RUBIO and STEPHEN CURRY available for the 8 pick and Chandler, you do everything in your power to sweeten that pot and get your coach the player he needs. jordan hill is not an impact player in d'antoni's system with no lead guard. get the coach his lead guard if it's a guard driven system. come on, now.

If I was a moderator I would lock this thread and ban any gloom and doomer...the bad energy is what is killing the franchise...the draft improved the team. if you don't see that, then you need to stop masterbating...you are going blind!!!

bad energy is killing the franchise? bad management killed the franchise almost ten years ago. donnie is trying to bring it back and he's being conservative and patient which is probably good. but you can't blame any fan for being frustrated that we keep losing players that would be perfect for this team and this city because of bad luck and not being aggressive enough. i'll stop complaining, but i just don't think you can be happy with being so close to grabbing a curry or a rubio and settling for a kid who flunked out of high school.

Bad energy is what is killing the franchise? Yea passing up players that fit needs is what kills a franchise. You have a sf so you pass up possible allstars at SG/PF/C to draft Gallo.

You have a chance to move Nate to get rid of Jefferies and you don't do it and the guy walks you get nothing for him and are stuck with that contract.

You almost lose the ability to trade zach because you think you can get more than a second round pick. Unless we turn Lee into something like Bayless you have to be very displeased.

The kid from FSU is a nice pick and can be a good defender in this league. But Hill doesn't have an offensive skill set and plays like Miki Moore, and looks like the guy.

Balkman was also dropping double-doubles for the Knicks. Sell Lee when his value is high (like it is now). Don't buy into the stat boost given by 's system. Hill will get the same stat boost.
