Add Dionte Christmas to that list. I can't believe he did not get drafted.

^I still have high hopes that PEJr will end up a Knick this year.

I really liked what I saw out of AD Vassallo from VA Tech. this past year. 6'6" versatile, heady player that can really shoot the lights out. He can also see the court, handle it a little and pass it well. Plus he's big enough to play some 3 at times. I mean D'Antoni would love this kid. He's not gonna give you man-to-man defense like a Paul Harris but he won't kill you on the defensive end either. He's smart, alert, switches off well & played well defensively within a team concept (Virg. Tech played a lot of zone defense). Adequate defensively. No real need for Paul Harris now that we got Toney Douglas anyway... What makes this guy different is his craftiness and shooting ability at that size. That's what seperates him from the pack. He's better than a lot of players taken late last night. I think he's better than Jack McClinton and I like McClinton... If you recall Morris Almond being drafted a couple of years ago, there was a lot of talk about comparing his game to Allan Houston's. While Almond still has some upside and has some similarities to Houston (size for a shooter, jumpshot) he's pretty mechanical on the court & not nearly as graceful as Allan was. Vassallo is much smoother than Almond - between the two, Vassallo's game really compares more favorably to H2O if you ask me. Watch, he'll definitely surface somewhere this summer unless he just decides to pack it in altogether and go home to play in Puerto Rico. I hope we bring him in and give him a look if he's still around.
Nice clip of Vassallo doing his thing at home against Wisconsin: Vassallo's stats from last year (good across the board with very good 3 pt. %s the past few years on a good number of attempts): http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=27069 [Edited by - finestrg on 06-26-2009 9:29 PM] |
