Leo Lyons, Mizzou forward. Not quite the same skills package as DeMare Carroll but good rebounder, scorer in a running game.

Josh Heyvelt from Gonzaga. I hope he gets invited to camp. He is a shot blocker and can shoot the ball and finish around the basket. He is also 6'11".

Wow, I stopped following the second round once they started taking the projected first rounders with the higher picks. Didn't know Heyvelt wasn't drafted but he should DEFFINITELY get an invitation and make sure you can work a roster spot for him if he impresses you, like I think he can.

Add Dionte Christmas to that list. I can't believe he did not get drafted.

Interesting....in fact one sports writer who spoke of us getting the LAL 29th thought we were going to spend it on this kid.

Also what happened to the Syracuse guy,... Paul something or other... people close to Syracuse thought he had a real shot to go in the 40s or 50s and was projected to SAS at 51 not too far back. Also worth a look IMO. Flynn going 6th shocked many. Devedorph going to Europe shocks noone as he STINKS.

Good call.

I've seen teams carry 22+ players over the summer. Why not go for it?

Wasn't he projected late 20s and 30s in some mocks?

Saw your post in the NBA draft at around the 51st pick and they have not been drafted yet. I also wanted Heyvelt at the 29th pick but not familiar with Christmas. I am just going by the mock drafts where Christmas was projected early 2nd rounder.

He also dogged his NBA workouts...he was absolutely terrible...if you look at the vids the Kings posted Heyvelt didn't even try to play defense in the 3 on 3's and his body language was terrible...Looked like he didn't want to be drafted.

at least neither one of them are descended from any former Knick legends... maybe they might actually have a chance to end up on the roster?

There is more than 1 nice pick for the SL teams out there--this draft couldve went to round 3. It was a star -studded draft but it was filled with good secondary type players who could turn out to be steals. I like Paul Harris--I think he brings an element of toughness and we just lost a big guard body in Q.

maybe... if we end up dealing Wilson Chandler in a deal for Rubio then i can easily see that happening.

I had known about Heyvelt and Christmas, but I forgot about Harris. I also think that he is worth a look. Can't hurt, and I though that I read about him being looking like a tough 1/1 defender. I also saw some clips of his workout jump shooting, and he did not look terrible.

I really liked what I saw out of AD Vassallo from VA Tech. this past year. 6'6" versatile, heady player that can really shoot the lights out. He can also see the court, handle it a little and pass it well. Plus he's big enough to play some 3 at times. I mean D'Antoni would love this kid. He's not gonna give you man-to-man defense like a Paul Harris but he won't kill you on the defensive end either. He's smart, alert, switches off well & played well defensively within a team concept (Virg. Tech played a lot of zone defense). Adequate defensively. No real need for Paul Harris now that we got Toney Douglas anyway... What makes this guy different is his craftiness and shooting ability at that size. That's what seperates him from the pack. He's better than a lot of players taken late last night. I think he's better than Jack McClinton and I like McClinton... If you recall Morris Almond being drafted a couple of years ago, there was a lot of talk about comparing his game to Allan Houston's. While Almond still has some upside and has some similarities to Houston (size for a shooter, jumpshot) he's pretty mechanical on the court & not nearly as graceful as Allan was. Vassallo is much smoother than Almond - between the two, Vassallo's game really compares more favorably to H2O if you ask me. Watch, he'll definitely surface somewhere this summer unless he just decides to pack it in altogether and go home to play in Puerto Rico. I hope we bring him in and give him a look if he's still around.

Nice clip of Vassallo doing his thing at home against Wisconsin:

Vassallo's stats from last year (good across the board with very good 3 pt. %s the past few years on a good number of attempts):
