You can debate the merits of having Shaq paired with Lebron next season, but there remains one absolute constant: they got him for free. Sasha wasn't doing anything and Ben Wallace even less, the funds are negligible, and the Cavs are immediate dark-horse favorites to win the championship.

Cavs can't lose here. They weren't getting much from Ben or Sasha. This is a big move for them. Dunno what they do about Z now.

Ben Wallace will be release from Phoenix and will retire. I guess he doesn't want to run.

I would never have guess back in 96 that Shaq would become a mercenary big man after going to the Lakers. I thought he would retire way before that point and concentrate on his movie career. What about Shazzam 2 and a follow up game to Shaq-Fu. A great loss for the entire world. Speaking of not focusing during the off-season. Dwight may still have time to work on his post game this off-season but may not willing to do so in the future. Everyone wants to get into the movies.

Shaq for free. Not a bad deal for cavs. They have no downside.

The big z can play his natural position at the 4 and shoot from the parimeter where he is effective. He can play with shaq at the same time in small stretches.

Shaq can break down at any moment, but he knows his role and is smart.

What does he have left in the tank? This isn't 2004. He wasn't terrible last year but how much can he really help the Cavs? How is he any different than Ilgauskis or Varejao at this point in his career?

He'll be better than Wallace that's for certain but I'm not convinced he gets LeBron a ring - unless the league REALLY wants him to - like in 2004 when the Mavs got completely SCREWED over by the officiating.

he was pretty solid last year.

Few things will motivate this guy, but I think he shows up lighter than he has in 5 years and the Cavs win the title. Cavs are deep and can limit his minutes. You know the guy wants to win one more and wont get a better shot. That would be 5 titles. I hope they win. Shaq is a goofball but he's a great personality.

Shaq was good last season, I don't see why people have doubts about this. All he needs to do is make it through the season and a playoff run and they have Big Z to take some minutes from him and rest him suring the 82 game stretch.

Shaq + Lebron is scary, much more so than Shaq + Wade. I think this definitely gets them into the finals if things are clicking. There will be competition from the Celtics and the Magic but this was a seriously good trade. More lopsided than the Gasol to LA trade if you ask me.

Lebron is not coming to NY now - mark my words.

Obvously as a Knick fan, I'm not very happy that Sha may make the Cavs a better team, enticing Lebron to resign. But with that said, Lebron has owned the paint for years, now Shaq gets in the way....should be interesting.
