I saw this clip a few months ago and why I'm such a HUGE supporter of drafting Rubio. Considering the international hate, I thought who better to listen to than Kobe Bryant?

I'll repeat what I said in another thread since it got ignored and I think it bears repeating when it comes to these NBA cats giving props to a player they went against in the Olympics....
You have to be really careful about falling in love with small game samples, especially with NBA prospects. Rubio, was no doubt flying on adrenaline playing against Bean, Lebron..ext. A lot of marginally talented players could replicate such a performance in a similar scenario.

If the NBA season was comprised of a 10 game tournament, great...but we're talking about a grueling ass 82 game year with playoffs on top, competing with ridiculously physical and athletic players. Is Rubio built for this?

There are a lot of red flags that I am hearing about him. I'm not anti-Rubio, its just I dont know enough about him to say that I am comfortable investing so much into him, via trades and a high pick

I have heightened reservations because of our questionable Gallo pick. We couldnt get our '08 pick wrong, and we DAMN SURE cant mess up this time.

LOL other than Gasol and Hedo. No other foreign player had an impact in the conference finals and NBA Finals. I'm not mad at Kobe, he is positioning for his post NBA career when he buys that Italian team. LOL, got to love the part about Boston not having a single foreign player on it. KG says not on my damn team. As nyk would say that is some serious euro-bias.

dude.. that was a gold medal game. Lebron etc werent pumped up to win that game?

Also he was defensive player of the year but guys like King1 and Peter vescey label him a non defender.

He's a gym rat, he loves the game and he's got great natural talent and ability. Sounds like a good player to draft. Thats all I am saying.

Yeah, if he fell to 8, I'm with you. But we have to trade a #8 and conceivably Chandler and other assets just to get to him? I dont know anything about him.

I fail to see how Larry Hughes would be more enticing for Dwyane Wade or LeBron James to play with than Ricky Rubio. Kobe likes him. I'm sure the entire Olympic Team likes him because everyone deferred to him. I'm sure LeBron would love to throw down his passes if/when Cleveland chokes again. Rubio would have one year to be shown the ropes by Duhon and . Rubio makes the most sense if you're drafting to pitch future FA... his talents are based around passing the basketball.

Ginoboli, Vlade Divac, Peja and I'm sure Yao will eventually be there. Nene has become an important player as well. Look, I know how skeptical you are, and it's understandable. But just because not a lot have made it, doesn't mean it can't happen with other guys.

The fact is, nobody is right. Not the people high on Rubio and not the people low on him. We have no clue how he'll translate in the NBA. We also don't know how most of the guys in the lotto will translate b/c they all have question marks. All of them. And b/c of that, Rubio is just as safe or just as dangerous a pick as the rest of them, besides Griffin obviously.

Celtics lost when they added Marbury.

Marbury is from a differnt place. A magical place, a special place.

Forgot about Pietrus but the comment was related to the video about this past season. His reporting was skewed concerning this past season and he also showed a picture of Sasha who had no impact. Gasol, Hedo and Pietrus impacted the playoffs. That's like me saying the finals and conference finals were impacted by players that didn't go to college. Wow, amazing.

I don't know about a pg who can't flat out score in this league. Last year alone there at least 6 very good scoring pg's added to the league. They keep compare this kid to kidd. But kidd is a hell've rebounder for a pg and a more then reasonable defender. Playmaking is obviously a major strength but shooting is equally important.

Mikael Pietrus had a pretty significant impact in the Magic's postseason games & so did Nene for Denver... & both Gasol & Hedo were probably 1 of the top 2 most important players for their teams, u can't just discount those guys... that's like saying other than Kobe & Dwight there were no other US born superstar players on the court in the Finals.

The report was skewed. The guy brought up Sun Yue when he refered to the Asian player on the Lakers. If you think Sun Yue had an impact on the series then we watched a different series. I added Pietrus to the mix. Yeah Nene should be on that list too. But I can't include Sasha and Yue two guys he included. The same for Gortat. For me, it is only Gasol and Hedo as far as serious impact. To me it is silly point. I'm wouldn't do a story about guys having an impact on the finals who didn't go to college even though they had the biggest impact. What purpose does that serve?

for someone how reads and reviews contracts for a living, you sure miss a lot of details or make some wild ass assumptions about inferences.
