You really think grown men are going to take direction and leadership from an 18 year old player who has never averaged more than a few points and looks/sounds more like he should be playing with Menudo? If we pick him--prepare for a long wait.

Was there really a need for a new thread for this? I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but couldn't you just have posted it in the draft thread or one of the other Rubio threads?

Briggs. You preach patience for every player, yet Rubio has to be there right away? Which one is it?

I think if someone has talent and plays like a professional (not to mention technically is a professional in Europe) then players are going to give him a chance. With pros I think his actions will speak louder than words and you have to realize something, he is a pass first point guard with great vision and he can defend. I don't see why pro players would not respect a guy who can help their stats out, and still defend on the other end of the court.

Also, it comes down to the coach. We are in the process of getting players here who will perform in this system and they better listen to the coach. I'm sure the coach is aware of what you are saying and things need to be done in a manageable way.

Did the Bulls players have a problem with Rose last year?

Doesn't this hold true for all PG's?

If he comes in and can't run the offense nobody will listen to him ever. If he comes in and runs the show like a pro people will listen right away. Nothing matters until a guy plays.
I just hope that people will like me

if he's hitting them with passes and they're scoring then they're not gonna give a **** if he looks like . . . . . . . .

LOL

and Briggsy man, there isn't a player in the NBA that doesn't want to receive one of his passes... it's like you're guaranteed to be on SportsCenter... and he led the Spanish National team in minutes in the gold medal game. He's good

Walsh on Rubio:
Question: Hypothetically, if Rubio is sitting there are eight, is it a slam dunk that you would take him?

Walsh: It depends who he is with. I can’t predict who he will be with. But I think there are other players who are on his level. He has experience, a great game, flair - but like most players in the draft he’s got some things he does better than most NBA players and he some things that he doesn’t do. And I can’t think of anybody in this draft that doesn’t fit into that category. That’s where he is. He’s like 6-foot-4, 6-foot-5. That’s a big guard.

As long as he shows that he can make individual players and the team better, they will be willing to work with Rubio and eventually let him take the lead.

The guy has been playing with and against grown men for how many years? There is always going to be a growing process for any young player, but few have been thrown against the kind of competition he has faced at such a young age.

Are you really talking about his physical ability at this point, and the fact that he cannot leap tall buildings in a single bound? Rubio will get stronger as he matures- just a matter of time, but will a player like Evans ever develop the court sense that Rubio has?

You also get the sense that Rubio is probably a gym rat. He will adapt to what he faces in the NBA and by the end of the year he should be holding his own on a regular basis. He'll take his lumps, of course, but he will be popular with his teammates and set the stage for his eventual rise as a floor leader.

No man is happy without a delusion of some kind. Delusions are as necessary to our happiness as realities- C.N. Bovee

How's his English? Maybe they won't listen, but when he is dropping dimes by the dozen, they will be happy to take the feed.

Your a smart man BRIGGS, what you just wrote is ridiculous. A player becomes one after he win the trust of his teammates. There is no doubt in my mind that he will win the trust of his teammates. He is a pass first PG and last I looked other players love to play with a pass first pg, why he gets them stats and fat stats lead to fat contracts. He isn't gonna have problems with that.

The NBA is not a boy's league. If he is picked by the Knics I will root like hll for him but my spider senses tell me Knicks management will be eating humble pie.

Can you tell me one from the PG position? If the Knicks pass On Tyreke Evans for this kid they will regret it.

Tell that to LeBron, Melo, Kobe to some extent to Parker. You come in as a boy and you become a man.

Lebron was a man and proven. Rubio has proven nothing--if he has can you tell me his numbers in the ADULT European league?
