I might have mentioned that I've been on a mission to lose a lot of weight, and I've been doing pretty good so far.

However, last Monday, I weighed myself on the bathroom scale, and it said 268. Then at the gym and it said 269. FINE. I lost 5 lbs right there.

But then I took a sneak peak on Saturday, in my bathroom and it said 264 or so. Then today my bathroom said 262, 263. Yet, I went at the gym and it said 267.6. That was after I put a shirt on, drank some water and put my shoes on. What the fudge? Should I just officially stick to my bathroom scale? I think I'm just going to say I'm 265, b/c that's right about in the middle.

And yes, I'm well aware that the doctors scales are the best, but I don't have access to one unfortunately.

I think its best to stick to one scale and add 1 or 2 lbs to your current weight. It has a great psychological effect on the mind to think your actually weighing less than what the scale is showing.

Best to put your scale in the positive by 1 to 2 pounds.

Stick to 1 scale but if you are using your bathroom scale, make sure it is big enough for you. I bought a cheaper scale and totally forgot that my size 13 feet does not fit the darn scale. I have to be perfectly still and centered to get to what I think is an accurate reading.

weighing yourself in general is a bad move. At my gym they do body fat assessments where they calculate your fat %'s and muscle mass etc... I remember after like 3 months of going crazy at the gym... i weighted my self and i only dropped like 5 pounds or something but when i did a re-assessment the body fat losses were astonishing i actually put on like 15 pounds of muscle and dropped a TUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN of body fat... so yeah I think taking a before picture in the mirror and then maybe taking a picture every month or so might be a good way to judge if u cant do the bdoy fat thing.. cuz weight is decieving

It helps. I like to be more straight up though. I think I'm just going to switch to the bathroom scale every Monday now. That way I don't have to weigh myself and wonder how much I weigh without clothes on and without all the water I already drank. For this week though, since it was such a ridiculous difference, I'm just going to say I'm 265.

Well, time of day will affect your weight. You weigh more in the morning and less as the day progresses. Why I don't know I just know that it works that way

What's the name of your gym? I'm not sure if they do that at my gym. They just have a big digital scale. I'll look into it on Wednesday, which is the next day I scheduled myself to go.

I think it's opposite, no? Regardless of which one it is, your true weight is in the morning when you get up.

don't micromange your weight. it fluctuates with what you've eaten the day or two before, the physical activity, the time of day, etc. just know the ballpark that you're in.

+1. When I train, I never look at the scale because it is not a great indicator of getting to shape especially if you are weight training. Body fat assessments are the way to go.

Don't trust digital scales.

Weigh your self the same time every day on the same scale.

I do it in the morning. Before I eat or drink anything.

Its the lightest reading of the day, but I know its after a nights sleep and say 6-8 hours since I ate or drank somthing.

On days I lift, its more the next mornging. On days I do cardio, its lighter. On lite eating days and no working out its the lightest of the day.

If your trying to lose, then chart it and you'll see the trend.

Nevermind. I just talked to the people at my gym and they do do that. I'm actually going in today to set something up. Woot woot.

Yeah, it should be the opposite, unless you do all your eating at night and sleeping during the day. I agree with Elite on using bf% too though.

My bad. Yeah you're right. And I just did the research and the primary factor is water retention. My point I guess was to weigh yourself at the same time... better indicator of progress

So my explanation is
either the bathroom scale OR the gym scale needs to be calibrated
or you weighed yourself, pissed, ran around, sweated a bunch at the gym, then weighed yourself and used a bunch of water

Allan: I was too lazy to read the rest of the thread so I apologize if this was already said.

1.) Weigh yourself once a week. Your weight fluctuates so don't risk being discouraged by weighing yourself every day.
2.) Weigh yourself at the same time each day. Your weight fluctuates throughout the day so try to weigh yourself at the same time each day. I use to weigh myself each morning before I ate breakfast.
3.) Use the same dam-n scale. Each is different
I just hope that people will like me
