I didn't see this posted yet. http://www.nypost.com/seven/06162009/sports/knicks/knicks_having_hill_of_an_idea_174442.htm
It would be a good night for the Knicks if guard Stephen Curry fell to No. 8.

It would be a great night for the Knicks if Arizona power forward Jordan Hill fell, too.

The Post has learned Knicks president Donnie Walsh has secretly coveted Hill, the 6-foot-10 big man whom they would take in a heartbeat over Curry. Walsh told confidants that after the draft order was established he thought a better chance existed of Hill slipping to them. That's because some teams picking before the Knicks weren't in the market for bigs.

There have been recent reports Hill was slipping, but chances still are Hill will be gone by No. 8. Walsh has eyed trading up and still has hope. Walsh will watch Hill today during a solo workout at their Westchester compound. It is Hill's second workout for an NBA team.

It has been stated the Knicks' priority has been a point guard, but Walsh says that perception is there only because a slew of point guards are considered viable in that range.

Sources indicated Walsh flew across the country for the Pac-10 Tournament to view Hill at Staples Center. Hill didn't disappoint, scoring 20 points with 13 rebounds in Arizona's loss to Arizona State.

"If draft day comes and goes and he's on their roster, it's a very good day for the Knicks," said one NBA GM who has spoken recently to Walsh. "He rebounds, defends, scores, and the key is he can run. Bigs that can run is a requisite in Mike's [D'Antoni's] way of playing."

The Knicks are stacked at power forward, but not with sturdy interior defenders. A Hill acquisition would allow them to let free agent David Lee exit and open up more cap space. Hill, who measured 6-10 without sneakers at the Chicago combine, averaged 18.3 points, 11 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots.

"Forget all the commotion this time of year, it's not a good draft," the GM added. "And Hill's a good player. He will be a guy who can sign a large second contract in this league. I just don't see him not being a top-five guy, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

Perhaps Hill's reported slip hastened his decision to work out.

Isn't there a Biblical admonition against coveting?

Just wondering.

You directing that to the wrong man, Pally. You need to be talking to Briggs about that kind of stuff with all these damn groupie love letters he writes about the draft picks he likes and his boo, Bynum.

Covetousness is a very grave sin; indeed, so heinous is it that the Scriptures class it among the very gravest and grossest crimes (Eph 5:3).

kuv'-et-us-nes: Has a variety of shades of meaning determined largely by the nature of the particular word used, or the context, or both. Following are some of the uses: (1) To gain dishonestly (batsa`), e.g. the King James Version Ex 18:21; Ezek 33:31. (2) The wish to have more than one possesses, inordinately, of course (pleonexia), e.g. Lk 12:15; 1 Thess 2:5. (3) An inordinate love of money philarguros, the King James Version Lk 16:14; 2 Tim 3:2; philarguria, 1 Tim 6:10); negative in Heb 13:5, the King James Version.

But repent and you will be saved...

I like the idea of getting a big that can run. We could then sign and trade Lee and replace him with someone who can score, rebound and defend. He doesn't have Lee's passing or intelligence (imo) but not many "bigs" will. And a sign and trade of Lee could net us Rubio, Curry, etc... With all the pg prospects, grabbing a big might be a good idea. If we go guard then we could try to grab Mullens later on...

The Covet list

Curry
Holiday
Evans
Thabeet
Hill
Flynn
Lawson
Daye
Beaubois
Rubio
Jennings

Am I missing anyone?

Pretty much the whole draft board outside of Griffin, Harden and Derozan.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Hill:

Good: 6'10", NBA body, athletic ability

Bad: bad hands, no post game, can't put the ball on the floor at all, questionable skill level & bball IQ, inconsistant effort

Ugly: Taking him over Curry.

Frankly, I don't see what he brings that Heyvelt doesn't (who could be had in early rd 2). We already have Chris Wilcox, don't draft another.

The Knicks want either Curry or Rubio---everything else is horse manure--they want Curry or Rubio over Griffin let alone Hill.

This draft is like the 1983 NFL draft minus Eric Dickerson. It was very QB heavy just like this years PG group. You are going to have 6-7 teams come out with what could be a starting caliber of PG. And who knows the future but it is possible just like Dan Marino getting drafted 2nd to last in that round[bypassing the Jets] you could ahve the best NBA PG fall late. You just never know. If it was me Id be more than happy with the last pick in that 1st round draft even though he wasnt a QB.

MDA offense is predicated on bigs running a pick and roll. Hill cant catch a cold so your going to expect him to catch a bounce pass while running toward the basket. This draft sucks trade down and get you a big and a shooter

I wouldn't trade up to get Hill and I certainly wouldn't take him over Curry (who I would trade up for). But if he falls to us and Curry is gone, it's a pick I'd be ok with. He does board well, he runs the court and he plays good d and his offense isn't bad.

The only player that's a lock is BG,but I don't see walsh or mda passing on the multitude of quality pg's to draft hill unless there's a S n T for lee.

I cannot see Hill slipping to 8... just can't. There's a boatload of guards and no bigs... I could see Sacramento and Washington and Golden State taking him... and maybe OKC, though I wouldn't bet on them

Heyvelt supposedly looked good in a recent workout. I don't think he has the "warrior" mentality that Hill has, though, and I wonder about his defensive ability. With his shooting ability, you can definitely see him as someone MDA would like playing 15-20 MPG- he could play C and pull out an opponent's center- opening things up a bit in the middle.

Hill needs some lower body strength, and if he does get to 245+ lbs., he could be center for an MDA team. He has a midrange J (something Wilcox has not shown on any kind of consistent basis)- don't see why he would need 3pt range as a center. If you watch clips of his workout you will see that he has a nice stroke.

If we go with Hill, I would want to pick up Collison with a later 1st round pick if that can be worked out.

I just can't see the Knicks and MDA not going after a PG with this crop available.
